Thoroughbred Racing heads to The Valley on Saturday after a week which saw many Spring contenders have their jumpouts in readiness for racing in the coming weeks. On Saturday gallopers will be racing on a Good surface after another winter week with little rain about.

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday, August 12th 2023
Race 1: Quentin Wallace Handicap - 11:55pm (AEST)
(1) Epic Proportions has a gear change with the tongue tie being applied here and that might make the difference. I am trusting the leading Maher & Eustace team with this one and after a lean few weeks I think the stable is ready to up the pace in the weeks ahead. This horse has been beaten a total of 1L in his recent 2nd placings and seeing a Good track for the first time might just spark him up. He will settle on pace and that can be the place to be a lot of the time at The Valley.
(2) Title Fighter has drawn inside with Willow on and did lead all of the way here previously beating Epic Proportions.
(3) Lakota Fire has drawn 8 and may use some petrol early if he wants to get over.
(4) Mansiere won when fav at Bendigo last time but has barrier 9 here. Tricky assignment. Rhys McLeod rides for Nick Ryan and he is 4th up. Fit.
(1) Epic Proportions - WIN
$4.50 (2 Units)
Race 2: James Miller Handicap - 12:25pm (AEST)
(4) Twin Perfection has won 4 from 11 and is very fit now after winning 3 races this campaign for Phillip Stokes. He is 2 from 2 over this distance and he has won on the Synthetic track before which proves he likes Dry ground in which he should get here. He will probably settle about 3rd in the run and gets the service of Zac Spain for the first time. Fit and ready for a Saturday win.
(5) Jungle Sensation was backed to win last start (2nd) and I think he must be kept safe here at good odds.
(8) Charmed Run will need the pace on as he is a run on type. He likes this distance range and this race is easier than last start at Caulfield.
(2) Field of Flutes goes well but is far better on wet ground. Will be surprised if he wins but can sneak a placing at around the $2.40 quote.
(4) Twin Perfection - WIN
$3.50 (2 Units)
Race 6: Ladbrokes Racing Club Challenger Handicap - 2:45pm (AEST)
(11) Superstock has been unlucky in his last couple but has been running well. He has Williams on and he should be 100 percent fit now at this stage of his preparation. He probably isn't a Spring horse yet so this race just might be his Grand Final. He will likely settle 6th to 8th in the run but will be running on late.
(13) La Spezia has raced in harder races than this. He will be good odds and almost won last time at Pakenham.
(10) Girello will be up there on speed but the wide barrier is a worry. He might just set the race up for Superstock if he uses too much energy early.
(2) Wascaly has drawn very wide and will have to be very good on the day to win. May start fav though but I can’t have him from that barrier.
(11) Superstock - WIN
$4.80 (2 Units)
Race 9: Steveos Scamper Handicap - 4:35pm (AEST)
(8) Inundation resumes and if he is at his best I just think he brains them. He has been costly to punters in his career to date at certain times but Mick Price thinks a lot of him and I don’t think he would be racing if he wasn’t cherry ripe. He goes well fresh and is 1 from 1 at The Valley. He has won 4 races over the 1000m and he will settle midfield.
(4) Omni Man for the Waterhouse & Bott team may lead this field but will need to be strong for the duration. He loves Dry ground and is 5 from 5 over this distance. Comes over from NSW after leading all of the way and it's the first try at this track. Barrier 1 is an advantage especially if there is track bias.
(5) Sweet Ride has drawn wide in 9 and may get trapped out. Has placed here and is 1 from 1 over this 1000m. Maybe next time.
(1) Acromantula goes well first up but does have to carry 59kg. Damien Lane hops on though.
(8) Inundation - WIN
$3.20 (3 Units)
