Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday September 30th
Race 2
(5) Savannah Cloud is second up and did run well first up when beaten a length at Geelong for second. Barrier one is an advantage at The Valley especially if the track is playing like it was last week. He settled midfield before hitting the line well at Geelong, but I think Zac Spain may want to sit a little closer at this track & distance. He has always been in the top three over the 1200m so the distance is ideal.
(4) Sharp Response also runs well over this distance but is first up so our on top selection will likely have the fitness edge. He has placed in a Group 3 before and does go well on Soft ground.
(7) Danny’s St Darci is first up and is down in class. He will likely need the run but I’ll be watching this one carefully for future races.
(2) Sixbysixythree is probably the fittest horse in the race and is consistent.
(5) Savannah Cloud WIN
$4.20 (2 Units)
Race 4
(3) Keats for Gavin Bedgood and Craig Williams will be positive from the barrier (9) and despite having never won over the distance, he has placed twice. His form over the last 12 months has been poor really but he has shown enough in his last couple to say he will run well in this one. His fourth at Flemington last start had quality horses in it of the likes of Gunstock and Unanimous.
(4) Head of State is a Group 3 winner but has been running below par. In a leading stable and we will include him after taking him for the win last start.
(5) Gone West is a winner of three from 10 and being third up here should be ready to fire. His Caulfield third last start was very good after running to the line well over the last 100m.
(6) Shultzy got up by a nose at Geelong last time on Soft ground and will be another who will be hitting the line hard.
(3) Keats WIN
$3.20 (2 Units)
Race 9
(11) Outback Action for the Peter Moody/Luke Nolen combination looks very hard to beat in this one. He is first up but did win two Pakenham jumputs recently in readiness for this campaign. Nolen knows the horse well and he has won over this distance before. Before his four-month spell he won well at Mornington and followed that up with a nice third after sitting in that position most of the race. He plugged away well.
(8) Horace is first up from New Zealand but did win a Flemington jumpout. Interesting runner.
(7) Screwed Down is an in-form runner having been in the money his last four attempts. He got back and ran on well at Flemington and if there is a fast pace in this race, he comes into it.
(3) Danaustar is fit and is consistent. He has won three of six on Soft ground and comes into this race well.
(11) Outback Action WIN
$2.30 (2 Units)
Race 10
(9) Cantina was sixth at Sandown Hillside last time but the run ws better than it looked. She was only beaten 1.8L and was against some handy types in that one. He is a winner on Soft ground and is two from two at the distance. She usually settles around fourth and Williams will want to be positive from barrier nine and slot in one out, one back.
(8) Van Roy has a big chance if there is no rain on Friday. He is fresh and can put in a good one fresh. Barrier 13 is a slight concern.
(7) Elteecee has a good barrier in two and didn't have much luck at this track last month when she was chopped out. Her last two runs have been good, and she is a runner that can run on any surface.
(6) Naval Envoy resumes. I think she will pick up a race at The Valley in the Summer but not this time.
(9) Cantina WIN
$4.60 (2 Units)
