October 26th 2023, 2:24pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Moonee Valley Racing Tips

Cox Plate Eve at The Valley is set to be an awesome night with an eight-race program on offer for racegoers and partygoers. Race 1 is for the three-year-old’s over 1000m but the race of the night is the Moonee Valley Cup in Race 8, which sees Lunar Flare the fav and he has drawn well in 3. Runners will be running on a Good 4 track, and the program gets underway at 6:15pm (AEDT). Good luck to everyone following!

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday, October 27th 2023

Race 1: Chef’s Hat Handicap - 6:15pm (AEDT)

(2) Celui was excellent when winning at Bendigo for the two Olivers in Luke and Damien and the colt looks like he will be even stronger here. Another Good track would be ideal and he may lead all of the way in this.

(3) Croatian Belle jumped out well recently when winning at Flemington and she has seen this track before when 4th behind Inhibitions on August 26. A good track would suit and Mark Zahra is on and he is in terrific form.

(4) Esecutore led but faded when 4th at this track last start. WIll be stronger and will settle up there.

(5) Rubicon Crossing came from midfield when winning at Mornington last start.

(2) Celui - Win

$3.60 (3 Units)

Race 2: Western General Bodyworks VOBIS Gold Star Open - 6:45pm (AEDT)

(2) Beltoro should be ready to fire now and should be 100 percent fit for this assignment. McDougall is back on replacing Teo Nugent and he knows the horse well. He will appreciate the 1500m again having won over it previously and he will find this race easier than the Toorak Handicap after he finished 12th (held ground).

(1) Regardsmaree has been tipped on our site a fair bit but she keeps running midfield. She is better than that and will attract support.

(3) Umgawa is another we have tipped twice in the last month and he is super fit. 1 start and was unplaced here. Slight concern.

(4) Ima Shelby won a jumpout on October 20 and he is very consistent and versatile. Is against a few who struggle to win and he isn’t without a chance.

(2) Beltoro - E/W

$6.50/$3 (1 Unit)

Race 3: Sweeney Estate Agents Country Cup Final - 7:15pm (AEDT)

(9) Rich Lover is very consistent and has been in the money in 4 of his last 5 starts. He led at Sale when 2nd and he may lead this field from barrier 8. He should improve again with racing over the distance for the second time and the stable is in form and could easily have won multiple races at Geelong on Wednesday.

(3) Port Albert will settle on speed but will have to use some juice early from barrier 10. He led when 2nd at Hamilton last start but the big weight probably didn’t help in the end. Drops 1.5kg here.

(5) Mysweetmoses didn’t have much luck when 3rd at Ballarat last start. Before that he was beaten a nose at Benalla. This is harder but he is going well.

(6) Sasqualah comes over from Warrnambool for the Wilde camp and Meech has ridden him well previously.

(9) Rich Lover - Win

$4.40 (1 Unit)

Race 4: Ladbrokes 55 second Challenge Heat 3 - 7:45pm (AEDT)

(6) Frilled hasn’t lost yet has drawn inside for Ollie who will try to lead in this I reckon. She looks like she likes The Valley having won there at her only start on the surface and that was last run. This time though she has to face the boys as well but it looks as though she is up to it. AT Kembla Grange two starts ago she had barrier 1 and she had no issues sticking to the rails and leading all of the way.

(5) Fission has won 3 of 6 on a Good track so he will want it Dry. She has never won in 7 tries on the Soft.

(1) Twin Perfection is first up and did break the distance record at Pakenham on July 3. Will settle 3rd or 4th.

(2) Rattle and Bang is very consistent but will want a Soft track.

(6) Frilled - Win

$1.95 (3 Units)

Race 5: Seppelt Wines Chautauqua Stakes - 8:15pm (AEDT)

(3) She Dances for Moody&Coleman gets a good draw here in 2 and Meech will settle her in the top few early. She was excellent in winning the Northwood Plume last time at Caulfield and she would have gained even more fitness with that. She is 1 from 1 at The Valley. Lombardo is a very good horse hence the weight he has to carry in this (60kg). A very good place chance as he is very consistent over this distance.

(5) Ranting won at The Valley on September 29 and will get back in the run. Chance if they go quick early.

(7) Helix was scratched during the week in preference for this and he has run a 1st or 2nd in all starts on a Dry surface.

(2) Ranges has been running well without winning his last 3 starts. Has been in the money 29 of 43 starts.

(3) She Dances - Win

$2.40 (2 Units)

Race 6: Schweppes JRA Cup Group 3 - 8:45pm (AEDT)

(3) Forgot You has barrier 7 in an eight-horse field but he does normally get back anyway so that shouldn’t be a problem. He is one who wouldn’t mind the track getting downgraded to a Good 5 and Blake Shinn will try to settle him midrace because he got a bit keen in the Feehan Stakes when 6th.

(5) Ain’tnodeeldun won well at Hillside last time beating Forgot You and he will want the rain to stay away so the track remains Good. He is 2 from 2 at The Valley and has won on both occasions with Egan on top.

(2) Sibaaq may lead this field and if he can get cheap sectionals he could place.

(1) Bank Maur has drawn the inside for Froggy Newitt and will try to stick to the rails throughout. 1 from 1 at The Valley.

(3) Forgot You - Win

$5 (1 Unit)

Race 7: Ladbrokes Moonee Valley Gold Gup - 9:15pm (AEDT)

(14) Lunar Flare is ready to step it up now in preparation for the Melbourne Cup. She has drawn well in 3 and she has won 2 races at The Valley previously. She has been getting back in her races and picking up late lengths like she did in the Turnbull Stakes when 15th at the 400m, with her running 5th in the end. Track conditions suit and she has won twice over this distance. Michael Dee stays on.

(3) Vow and Declare has been running great with runs down the outside in closing out. Its his first try here though and a question mark has to be whether the track will be too tight.

(9) El Bodegon probably needs it Soft or Heavy but is one of the best horses in the race. He was 9th in the Turnbull Stakes but wasn’t too far behind Lunar Flare.

(12) Cleveland settled close to the lead when 2nd at Randwick last start and connections might try similar here. JMac has his 2nd run on top and would have learnt a bit more about the horse last start.

(14) Lunar Flare - Win

$4 (3 Units)

Race 8: MSC Signs Handicap - 9:45pm (AEDT)

(9) Glitter ‘n’ Gold has won 4 from 15 on a Good track and he did look good last prep. He hasn’t won at the track or over this distance but from all reports he is training well at home. Just jogged at Penshurst in a recent trial (2nd).

(7) Farhh Flung has a wide barrier in 11 but he did win here 2 starts back when he came from well back at the 600m. He couldn’t get into it at Caulfield last time but he does have strong ability to pull at wide and run around horses.

(5) Rambler Rebel needs a Dry night and did run well last time after leading.

Sirius Black has drawn inside and he does love this distance.

(9) Glitter ‘n’ Gold - Win

$4 (1 Unit)
