Race 5
The 955m dash is a very competitive affair but the Adelaide visitor (5) Bray Street Boss makes some appeal here at each way odds. He won first up before doing absolutely nothing last time out, however I wouldn’t be too worried about that. He did the exact same thing last prep – won first up at Naracoorte, ran last at Morphettville and then won at Murray Bridge third up. All four career wins have been at this distance. Trainer Will Clarken is lethal when he brings runners here to The Valley and with even luck, I think we’ll see him run very well at $7.50. Back him each way.
One at huge odds to throw in is (9) McGarrett. He’s been competitive in better races over this track and distance in the past, but he went off the boil last campaign. He resumes tonight with the bar plates off, which is a huge positive, and he might surprise at around $19.

Race 7
This is the race of the night by far. (15) Coolth looks hard to beat returning from a spell. He won his first two starts dominantly in South Australia before bumping into Persan twice in June, both at Flemington. He is bred to get ground, and showed that in his first prep, but the mile first up tonight should be OK. Barrier 1 can also be a trap but with any luck, he looks the best horse in the race.
There is no shortage of chances in this race though. I’d suggest also having something on (10) Cassius and (14) Astraeus. Cassius is unbeaten third up from a spell and has never finished out of the top two from three starts over this track and distance, while Astraeus always needs his first two runs back but peaks at this stage of his preparation. Drawn to get a good run and double figure odds are available.
