Heat night at Moonee Valley continues with an eight-race card greeting us under lights yet again this Friday. With the weather tipped to remain steady in the lead up, the program is expected to be run on a Good 4.
The 6:15pm (AEDT) slot is reserved for the opener, before the meeting is set to round out with the last scheduled for the traditional time of 9:45pm. Please find all my best bets below ahead of a full book of racing across the weekend.
Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday, March 1st 2024
Race 2: Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge Heat 14 (6:45pm AEDT)
(1) Holy Racket has owned this distance range in the past and will be hoping to improve on her strong record. Has a middle alley to negate but the experience of Craig Williams in the saddle is enough to sway my judgement.
(3) My Name Is the fancied runner in early markets after drawing the inside which can be used to good effect. Query on her late but might prove hard to run down if it can catch a break on the turn.
(2) Celestial Storm will be stalking the leading pair and biding her time in transit before the charge home gets underway. The apprentice jockey's claim boosts her chances here and can poke its head into minor money.
(1) Holy Racket
$2.80 (2 Units)
Race 5: Pja Accountants $ Business Advisors (8:15pm AEDT)
(8) Sea What I See gets her chance on the big stage to show her class, will shorten from the current quote and may be worth a play as a multi anchor.
(7) Vilnius is a handy type that’ll be breathing down the neck of the favourite in the early stages to put the pressure right on. Will be there to strike if it gets given an inch.
(8) Sea What I See
$1.85 (3 Units)
Race 7: Entry Education Abell Stakes (9:15pm AEDT)
(7) Jungle Jim gets in light in comparison to the weight it carried around Caulfield, will appreciate that and can salute here for favourite backers.
(9) Nunthorpe resumes for the Moody and Coleman camp where her record first up is sound. Unsighted at the Valley may be the only knock on the 4yo Mare here in the penultimate race.
(3) Sweet Ride will need exactly that from Craig Williams in the saddle, straps up on the third line of betting and remains every chance to give connections something to cheer.
(7) Jungle Jim
$3.40 (1 Unit)
Race 8: The Orbit Logistics Super Sprint Series Heat 7 (9:45pm AEDT)
*SCRATCHED* (3) Andouillette is drawn to get the gun run around the tight turning Valley circuit over the 1000m. The form of the Mornington trained Gelding reads like a picket fence of late, and there’s no reason that can’t continue here.
(12) Nokhbah greets the Valley a fortnight down the track and in better shape with a fitness edge on her rivals. All roads point to an improved showing for the Hayes team who are in this up to their eyeballs.
(5) End Journey had complications alongside her only defeat to date, with last week's outing here proving she has returned in great order after saluting over the 955m.
