Friday night will be a hot night in Melbourne and the action at The Valley will be even hotter as eight good quality races are on display for punters.
The first kicks of at 6:15pm with the last of eight finishing at a touch after 9:45pm.
Runners will race on a Good 4 or 4 surface, and Brendan Bunworth has concentrated on those horses who love the dry ground.

Moonee Valley Racing Tips - Friday, February 17th 2023
Race 1
(1) No Secret is the go here for Mike Moroney and Blake Shinn. Starting at each-way odds of $7.50 last time it was an easy win at this track and on that occasion, she was running on the Soft but I think the Niagara/Justa Secret mare goes better on the dry. He has won 2 from 7 on the dry tracks including a win at Te Rapa last year.
(4) Defining has had a small freshen up since a disappointing 7th last time but has the services of Jamie Kah for this one so has to be kept safe.
(3) Cable De Vega is going for three on end and should go well again with seeing The Valley for the 2nd time.
(2) Lady Adelaide went pretty well 2 weeks ago in a jumpout behind her stablemate Seonee and has to be included.
(1) No Secret WIN
$3.40 (2 Units)
Race 3
(6) Euro Dandy has placed at this track before and he loves Good tracks. An inside barrier will suit and I think Blake Shin will settle a bit closer this time, maybe 4th or 5th. He has ran on well his last couple and is ready to win for the Chris Calthorpe stable.
(2) Suparazi has been in the placings 11 from 16 and is another gelding who likes Good tracks.
(10) Caesar was beaten a nose here on January 21 and may lead this field.
(11) Watadeel has the right combination of Craig Williams and Philip Stokes but barrier 11 worries me in this one.
(6) Euro Dandy WIN
$4.80 (2 Units)
Race 5
(4) Shock ‘Em Ova was 8th at The Valley last time but wasn't disgraced when beaten 4L. He likes it here and has won previously and Jake Noonan knows this horse pretty well now which is another positive. He always settles back in his races so if there is any speed in the event that is a bonus.
(2) Marcolt will settle a couple of lengths in front of my on topper and is very fit. Early in his career he was sent around at short quotes and was a little disappointing but he is starting to hit his straps now. Has won here.
(1) Alverdun might start favourite in this and the Dundeel/Alverta gelding was 5th in a stronger race here 3 weeks ago.
(4) Shock ‘Em Ova WIN
$4.80 (1 Unit)
Race 7
(1) Persan defeated Melbourne Cup winner Gold Trip in a jumpout 2 weeks ago and Pierro gelding still has fitness on his side after just a small freshen up. He loves racing over this distance and he loves good tracks and most importantly he can carry the weight of 60kg with Harry Coffey on top. Before his small spell he was 6th in the Bagot Handicap but his efforts before that were pretty good when 3rd in the Sandown Classic and when winning the JRA Trophy at Flemington.
(3) Chalk Stream won well at Warwick Farm last start and has won 2 from 5 on Good decks. Waller trains.
(7) Stars of Carrum has only won 1 from 36 but was better at Morphettville last time.
(5) Swords Drawn has Willow on and did see The Valley last start (2nd) which is a big plus.
(1) Persan WIN
$3.80 (2 Units)
Race 8
(11) Pretty Tavi is first up and has won first up previously. She gets the inside draw for Kah and should get the box seat. Anthony & Sam Freedman train and she should be tougher in her second campaign. Won well in a jumpout last week.
(12) Pink Cashmere was unlucky at Flemington last start but is fitter now. In good hands.
(3) Vongole was beaten a nose at this track last time and with Carleen Hefel on again, he should receive a lot of support. Another who likes Dry tracks and racing this time of year.
(1) Elite Icon was a couple of lengths behind Vongole last time who is our 3rd pick but he does always run well here.
(11) Pretty Tavi WIN
$3.40 (2 Units)
