The 'Friday Night Lights' series at Moonee Valley continues and so do our racing betting tips with a look at this Friday, December 9th. The rail is out five metres and the track is in perfect condition with a cloudy and cool day expected. The surface at The Valley plays much softer than Flemington and Caulfield so if you find a horse that likes the 'sting out' you can have a little more confidence than usual.
Race 1 #1 - Star Search @ $5 (Sportsbet Fixed Price)
Very tricky race to get an accurate read on with two of the horses unseen at the trials before this event. If we must pick one it would be Star Search who has trialled twice (only fairly) but at the price should be competitive.
Race 2 #1 - Emphatically @ $3.50
This filly brings a strong SP profile into a race full of 'just ok' fillies and mares. The 61 kilos (or 59 after claim) is not of any worry to us and she maps to get the perfect run.
Race 3 #7 - Zero Secrets to place @ $4.00
Talk Of California is the horse to beat but $2 looks poison, absolute basement odds. Zero Secrets has more upside than most of these. Fit now, 1600m should suit and would be a $10 chance if not for the tricky draw. Small place bet.
Race 4 #2 - Another Diamond $3.00 (pre Very Choosy coming out) (BEST BET)
Another Diamond looks incredibly hard to beat here and anything over $2 appears to be value after Very Choosy being scratched. Best roughie is Petite's Reward who has peak ratings at this track.
Race 5 #6 - Winston Wolfe @ $9.50 EW
A busy maiden race whereby the favourite is top pick but not really value. Winston Wolfe has been luckless a few times but maps well to sit with cover midfield off the fence. Can finish over the top of them.
Race 6 #7 - Broadway and First @ $2.90
Absolute raffle of a race with too many chances to bet confidently. Broadway And First for Weir and Allen is the most likely winner although a touch short now at $2.90.
Race 7 # 10 - Choux Diva to place @ $13 (BEST VALUE)
She is $51 to win which is high but the $13 to place is hard to knock back. Granted looks to have come back a length or two below her best but the rise in distance suits and this race isn't strong. Worth the gamble!
Race 8 #7 Movie @ $3.60
A tricky race to finish on with a stack of chances. Most of the runners that set up well face issues with the speed map so we landed on Movie who is the default pick here.
