Drafstars and Moneyball will both offer Big Bash League Daily Fantasy a massive 20k guaranteed prize pool for tomorrow night’s opening match of BBL06, the Sydney Derby between the Thunder and Sixers.
The $15 buy-in Draftstars tournament will shell out a huge $4k to the winner while the Moneyball contest with the same price buy in will pay out $2.6k to the winner, with the top 350 positions doubling up at least. The Sydney Derby will be the first of many with big daily fantasy prize pools in this week's BBL action, while you can also find our BBL06 Round 1 betting tips at Before You Bet
Even if you’re not a heavy hitter like some of the more regular daily fantasy players who enter multiple teams in every tournament, these ones are a must have for at least one entry, because as they say, you’ve got to be in it to win it! You also have the added advantage of no one knowing what the hell is going to happen in a brand new Big Bash Season, meaning it’s your best chance to hit the jackpot and walk away with the cash!
Your BBL Daily Fantasy Lineup
The team structure is a bit different in the opposing Daily Fantasy sites. Draftstars require you to pick only seven players, while Moneyball have an extra batsman and bowler spot for a total of nine team members. The pricing is also a bit different, in Draftstars you’ll have 100k to spend, while in Moneyball you’ll only be afforded 60k, however, the pricing of the players means that the overall values are around the same.
Scoring
The scoring system is the main difference, and this is where you’ll really need to study up when picking your lineup for each tournament. While it most likely won’t affect the star players from being the star players, the different scoring systems can sometimes adjust the values of the role players that you fill out your last few roster spots with. Here’s a look at the differences in scoring between the sites for BBL06.
Players to Watch
Sam Billings, Sixers ($15,600 DS, $7,000 MB)
Billings is a solid play, especially in Draftstars, as he is classified as a wicketkeeper. He may bat in the top four for the Sixers regardless of whether he or Brad Haddin wears the gloves, meaning you’ve got potential to get top order batsman production out of the wicketkeeper slot on your roster. At only $1,600 more than Haddin, he’s the first picked on my DS team.
Aidan Blizzard, Thunder ($12,000 DS, $3,000 MB)
If you’re looking for a cheap batting option in Moneyball, look no further than Thunders opener Aidan Blizzard. The hard-hitting lefty was thrown around the batting lineup in BBL05, with Usman Khawaja coming in and out of the side. He will get his chance at the top of the order on Tuesday night with Khawaja out, and Mike Hussey and Jaques Kallis no longer with the Thunder. At $3,000 with Moneyball he’s a must have.
Andre Russel, Thunder ($28,250 DS, $12,000 MB)
The highest priced player in both formats is Thunder all-rounder Andre Russel. The all-rounder position is a commodity in T20 cricket, there’s really only a few super consistent ones getting around and this guy might be the best of all of them. He averaged almost 40 fantasy points per game in last year’s Moneyball competition, which is 10 higher than anyone playing tomorrow night. Depending on how the Thunder are faring on the night, Russel could bat anywhere from 3-6 and will play a handy role with the ball, proven last year as he finished 3rd on the BBL05 wicket-takers list.
