Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 21st
Randwick-Kensington Race 2 (Market)
(6) Sweet Reply has bumped into some handy horses in her three starts this prep, finishing 2nd in all of them. The form behind the likes of Elizabeel and Lord Olympus in particular looks strong, and this looks an easier assignment. Stepping up to 1400m, she should take up a position close to the speed from barrier 2, and Tommy Berry is a positive jockey booking for the Richard and Michael Freedman stable.
Geelong Race 2 (Market)
Mick Price and Mick Kent Jr have a good record at Geelong, operating at about 21% in 2020. Their only runner of the day is (3) Scottish Dancer, who comes off a last-start win over the mile at Cranbourne. That followed a good first up run at Flemington, where he was beaten just 0.3L. Up to 1700m third up from a spell, he looks the one to beat.

Ipswich Race 7 (Market)
Trainer Brian Smith has three winners from five starters at Ipswich this season and his only runner of the day is (6) Soubrette here in Race 7. She resumed with a sound 4th placing at the Sunshine Coast, where she settled last and worked home nicely to be beaten 2.2L. The tongue tie is applied for the first time and she gets back to a track that obviously the trainer has an affinity with, so I expect sharp improvement today. The stable’s main rider goes on and she draws barrier 1, so with any luck she looks the horse to beat.
Ascot Race 7 (Market)
I think the way to bet here in the last at Ascot is each way on (1) Sakaraya for David Harrison and Joe Azzopardi. She resumed with a plain effort first up at Northam, but the stable don’t have a good record at that track and this mare doesn’t ever perform well first up. She’s yet to place from four attempts when fresh, however she does typically improve second up, with a win and a placing from two starts. First up last prep she ran 8th, albeit after a tough run, and then improved to win second up over this track and distance. Barrier 1 should see her position right up on the speed and I suggest she will be right in the finish. Back her each way.
