Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday, November 18th
Wyong Race 5
The top weight (1) Aspect Ratio should prove hard to beat here over the mile. She was beaten as favourite on a heavy track at Kembla Grange last start but she’s never won from five starts on heavy ground so I’m happy to forgive her for that. Prior to that she was racing in much harder races than this at Kensington and Canterbury, which was after she had bolted in over this track and distance by 3.8L. She finds a very, very winnable race today and if she can control the race from the front, she is going to be hard to run down.
Mornington Race 2
The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained (11) Lariat appears hard to beat here, but I’m siding with a horse on debut in the form of (5) Divine Wit. He’s from the stables of David and Coral Feek, who go well here on their home deck at Mornington, and this horse showed good zip in a recent jumpout, leading all the way to score nicely. It always pays to be up on speed at Mornington so if he can find the front, he’ll give the favourite something to think about.
Mornington Race 8
I concede (3) Fundraiser is the horse to beat here and should probably be winning this if he produces his best form, but there’s one at each way odds I’m keen to be with. (13) Strategist won here over 1000m first up, where he sat three-wide the trip and fought hard to prevail narrowly. The horse he beat was Red Peroni, who then came out and won well at Benalla, franking the form. The stable has a very good record at Mornington and this is their only runner of the day. Drawn awkwardly in barrier 16 but with even luck, I think he can at least fill a placing at good odds.
