We’ve got good racing throughout the country today with a strong meeting at Randwick-Kensington as well as Ballarat playing host to an 8 race card.
As usual, Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the day’s racing and brings you his best bets to get us over the midweek hump!
Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday, May 19th
Randwick Kensington Race 1
(5) Verne sparks interest making his debut after plenty of lead up trials before today. He’s shown very good ability across all 5 of his trials, winning one and placing in three others. Tommy Berry has been booked to ride and the Neasham stable is airborne at the moment. Think this horse could have some X factor about him.
Randwick Kensington Race 3
(5) Imposing Beau can handle the step into benchmark grade here today. Was super impressive on debut, when a short price favourite. Went forward and never looked like being beaten. Should only improve off that, gets the gun draw with Berry to ride and can make it two wins to start his career.
Randwick Kensington Race 7
(6) Stoltz deserves a crack at this level after a very good win first up at Wyong. Will only improve off the back of that and was very strong to the line. Handles all conditions and as mentioned earlier, you can’t count out anything from the Neasham stable at the moment. (9) Miss Fox has looked the goods at a couple of recent trials and absolutely flies when 1st up. All signs point towards a very good performance today and looks the likey leader from barrier 2. Tim Clark is the best in biz on these front-running types and keen to have something on him today.
Ballarat Race 5
(6) Sacred Palace arguably should’ve won last start when trapped wide throughout and then found traffic problems in the straight. Did extremely well to finish as close as he did and I can’t see why he won’t be right in the finish again. Oliver sticks and he will have the wet track in his favour once again. Looks very hard to beat.
Ballarat Race 8
If (5) Tadashi Hamada can jump with them, he will go very close to winning. Has continued to be slow away in his races this prep and that has cost him dearly. Ran home again very strongly last start over 1400m and really like him getting out to the mile 3rd up from a spell. Should be rock hard fit and can slot in midfield and be strongest late.
