As the excitement of the Golden Slipper winds down we look straight towards some quality midweek meetings at both Sandown and Warwick Farm today. Both tracks look like they will be reasonably dry and hopefully every horse can get their chance. I’ve found a few across the day who look to be good winning hopes.

Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday March 31st
Sandown Race 5
(4) Charleise had to go straight in the blackbook last start after missing the kick out of the gates and then rocketing home in little room to miss by a nose. Should have won that race comfortably and now drops back in grade for this easier looking assignment. Gets apprentice Matt Cartwright onboard to offset the weight and has drawn well in barrier 5. Looks primed to perform well here 4th up and sticking at 1400m again looks a positive. With even luck, should be going very close.
Sandown Race 7
A big field and an extremely wide barrier but there was a lot to like about (5) Nobel Heights first up performance. Ran right over the top of them and kept pulling away at the line to win by almost 3L last start in what was an impressive run. Is 1/1 when 2nd up from a spell and the step up to 1800m looks ideal. Obviously will need luck in running from the wide gate but if he can enjoy a nice run throughout, will be right in the finish. Stays in bm64 grade for this and with only the four career starts, looks to have plenty of upside and may just find his groove this preparation. Will be fitter for that first up run and happy to have something on him.
Sandown Race 9
There were early thoughts that (14) Pinkham could’ve been anything following her debut performance and then a 7L romp in a barrier trial leading into her second prep. This horse then went to the G3 Kevin Hayes where she started a close $3.10 second favourite to La Mexicana. She finished less than two lengths off that horse that day which shows she certainly has ability. She then went to a listed race where the jockey reported something may have gone a miss and she overraced throughout. I think if you can be forgiving of that run, her previous form stands up and any performance similar to her first two, will be winning this. Think the $4.20 on offer at the moment is a great bet and it may pay to be forgiving here.
Warwick Farm Race 8
A big field to round out the day in Sydney but pretty keen (7) Acrophobic can show something here first up. Is well back in grade for this and best performances have generally come when fresh. Was last seen running 5th 3L off Ain’tnodeeldun in the Listed Tab Stakes. Was certainly not disgraced there and looks extremely well suited back to bm72 grade here today. Was 0.7L off Peltzer last preparation in the Bondi Stakes and that sort of form is plenty good enough for this race today. Gets back onto a drying track which will suit and is one of the few horses in this race who has performed well at Warwick Farm before. Will obviously be getting back from the wide gate but gets the services of Marquand who will be winding him up late. Looks over the odds at $6.
Also want to be having something on (14) Absolute Legend who looks ready to peak here third up out to 1300m. Both runs this prep have been good and only career win has been over this trip. Think the stable know exactly what they’re doing with this placement today and McEvoy takes the ride from barrier 5. Each-Way all day.
(14) Absolute Legend EW $10/$3.30
