Yesterday was a once in a blue moon event where we had no thoroughbred racing across the country, and I think I speak for most punters in saying that I can’t wait to rip back in today. Obviously the meeting in Sydney has been postponed due to wet weather but there is still some cracking racing happening at Sandown and other tracks across the country today. Let’s see if we can find a few winners!

Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday March 24th
Sandown Race 1
I was keen on the chances of (6) Miracle Day yesterday at Benalla but unfortunately that was rained out. Luckily we don’t have to wait too long to jump back on board as he lines up here in arguably an easier race than before. Resumes after being put away following a flashing run for the 4th in his only start last prep. The stable have spaced his runs and look to be taking plenty of time with this gelding who has shown glimpses of ability. That 4th placing was behind the likes of Esta La Rocca and Frederick The Dane who have both gone on to perform well in stronger races. He also boasts a 2nd to his name on debut behind Supreme Idea. That horse has obviously gone on to place in some strong group races and win the listed Lohnro Plate. Has now won a jumpout recently at Caulfield and looks ready to fire first up here.
Sandown Race 3
Thinking (1) Prince Of Helena could be the one here dropping back in grade after some strong performances recently at bm70 level. Has built a handy career record with 3 wins from 10 starts having only missed the placings on two occasions. Looked to be doing best work late here last start behind Faretti and Galactus and should be able to sit a bit closer from the better draw today. Hoping he can run out the mile strongly and will go close if he can. Has run some strong races in this grade previously and think he can have the measure of the horses he faces today.

Sandown Race 8
Keen to be with a smart type resuming here in (8) Excelleration. The Richard Cully trained gelding showed some talent in it’s debut preparation where it won on debut impressively over this trip in maiden grade before finishing half a length of Fundraiser in a strong bm64. That horse went on to win and run well in some quality Saturday grade races and that form looks strong enough for this race here. Has jumped out impressively recently and looks ready to fire first up and could be in for a big prep. Should enjoy all the favours from barrier 7 with Billy Egan to do the steering. Happy to put him on top in what looks like a good way to round out the card at Sandown.
Strathalbyn Race 4
Obviously with the Sydney meeting postponed, I’ve had a look around the grounds and found one here in Adeliade who I think can run a good race today. (5) Annika looks a good winning chance dropping back in grade after no luck at all in town last start. Her win before that was dominant, pulling away for a 2.5L victory in the same grade she faces today. Don’t mind the little freshen up and drop back to 1100 and should enjoy a good run up on speed from the low draw. Will give this a good shake and looks a decent bet at around the $3.50.
