Midweek racing continues today with strong meetings at both Canterbury and Cranbourne to get stuck in to.
Billy Bestford is back on the case and hopefully he's found a few winners to fill the pockets before the weekend!
Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday, June 23rd
Canterbury Race 3
(1) Barrichello is now having his 3rd straight start over this track/trip and has been improving with each run this prep. Flew home last start to just miss in a tight finish and should be fitter for that.. That was only his 2nd career start and now looks primed to break through today. Jmac is absolutely airborne at the moment and he sticks for the ride here. Should have plenty of options from gate 5 and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t go close.
Canterbury Race 4
(1) Onemore Sapphire has been in very good form and a 6th career win looks close. Comes into this after two very good 2nds, with the most recent one a strong run from the back of the field, eating into the margin to the winner all the way through the line. Will handle the give in the ground and is rock hard fit now. So long as he hasn’t come to the end of his prep I am pretty confident that he will be right in the finish today.
(1) Onemore Saphhire
$4.60
Canterbury Race 5
(3) El Buena drops back in grade today and looks well placed in this company. Wasn’t disgraced behind Marway last start and has had a trial since to keep him ticking over. He won’t mind any sting out of the ground and was a winner when tackling this track and trip 1st up this prep. Has had a trial since that last start run and has been a winner 3rd up in the past. Jmac to ride is a positive as always and hoping he can get him home once again.
Cranbourne Race 7
Handy little race here and I thought (8) Singing Sword would be hard to beat off the back of a good 1st up performance. Went down in a very tight photo finish and should now strip fitter from that. Looks suited getting out slightly in trip and best performances have come 2nd up in the past. Lane should be able to find a forward position from the wide gate and she will have no issues getting through the conditions.
Doomben Race 7
Think (3) Brabham showed he was clearly above average last prep, stringing together three wins and two 2nds. Won his maiden when first up last time in by 7L and Jim Byrne takes a rare ride today for this stable which I’m taking as a good indicator of their confidence. Should be able to lead or box seat from the low draw and he looks well placed to run very well in this grade. Expecting he will be hard to beat and continue on to contest tougher races than a midweek c3.
