Horse Racing Tips: Wednesday, April 24th
Wyong Race 1
Lashes has been off the scene for two months, last prep she had four starts, she won two of the last three and was outclassed in a feature for her age group the start between them. She has very good tactical speed and looks well drawn out in five in the small field, she will roll forward and look to dictate. She was at the trials at Warwick Farm a couple f weeks ago, jumped well but was strangled to take cover, she came very wide and when Shinn asked her for the effort, she dashed to the front in a few strides and was strong through the line. Her main danger is likely to be the last start debut maiden winner Walk The Runway, she was good leading all the way but she was double figure odds that day, has to step up to this class and has trialed on the heavy track. She will start well under the odds in my opinion. Lashes to land on the bunny and even if she doesn’t get to the rail first, Shinn will control the speed and be too quick up the short straight.
Wyong Race 2
So Yummy (Kuroshio x Mrs Beerman) is a bay gelding coning to the races for the first time. He has been given time to mature, trialed three times late last year before two more in March. I really liked the latest trial, he jumped well, sped out to a big lead mid-race before easing towards the top of the straight. The momentum got a couple of others up alongside but I liked the way he responded when asked. He comes to Wyong over the 1000m, drawn five he will jump and run. If he can rail hard into the straight after running them along, he will be tip-toeing late but should have done enough.
Wangaratta Race 5
Captain Harry doesn’t win out of turn, he has had three runs since transferring from the Weir yard and has continued to improve with Mitch Freedman in that time. He was beaten more than five lengths into third last time but was making steady ground through the line, the step up from the seven furlongs to the mile looks ideal. The horse that won that race comfortably, Persian Empire, has since stepped up again and won as a very short priced favourite so the form should hold up. POff teh good gate he will be giving them a start but should run on hard.
Pakenham Race 3
It doesn’t look the deepest maiden I have ever seen, Black Beau Tie gets his chance to not only record his first placing, but get his first win. He was off the track for more than 6-months before resuming here a fortnight ago, straight to the 1400m fresh he lobbed a beautiful spot on the leaders back. He chased hard along the rails to run fourth, the best going was certainly not along the fence where he was making his charge. He was good at his only other second-up run, maps to get a perfect run again and should be savaging the line with even luck.
Pakenham Race 4
At the time of writing there is no prices up so I am unsure what they will post with Blonde Disposition, hopefully not too short or I will stay out. She has been good winning two of three this time in and not beaten far in the other, that defeat she was runner-up and has also been a great form reference. Last start she sat on the speed three-wide, ran on strongly to take the lead at the furlong and was good through the line. She showed she can do it tough, she does have to step up in grade but there looks to be good speed, hopefully she just camps on them and explodes at the top of the straight.
