Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Tuesday, September 15th.
There's plenty of good country racing around Australia today and Tim Geers has found a number of races he's keen to bet in! Check out his best bets for Corowa, Taree, Yeppoon and Wodonga below!
Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, September 15th
Corowa Race 1 (Market)
Matt Dale brings one runner to Corowa today and that’s (6) London Gal here in the first. She’s only had one public trial which was back in April, but nothing public since then. She comes here on debut and when Matt Dale brings runners to Corowa they normally either win or go very close. Drawn well and should prove very hard to beat at a tick over even money.
Taree Race 5 (Market)
(8) Pirrama could run well at a big price today for Adam Duggan and Ashley Morgan. The stable had three winners from just seven runners here at Taree last season and the stable/jockey combination strikes at about 30%. The horse comes into this first up, it was well beaten in her only previous start at Newcastle 12 months ago, but her two recent trials have been okay. This is their only runner of the day so I’ll have a nibble at the $18 available.
Yeppoon Race 3 (Market)
(9) Cheeky Mila has had two runs back from a spell and comes here third up today. She improved from her first run to her second run, finishing 3rd at Mackay last start after leading. Ricky Vale is a trainer to watch when he has runners here at Yeppoon, with three winners from five starters last season. Cheeky Mila looks set to peak and if she can find the front, she should be very hard to run down.
Wodonga Race 5 (Market)
(5) Carwelkin looks out of form but I think she’s a decent each way bet today at $7.00. She was only beaten a length at Benalla last start and prior to that was contesting much harder races than this. She’s had two starts here at Wodonga and has won both, settling outside the leader on both occasions. From barrier 11, I suspect she will be able to take up a similar position and in this field, I’d be disappointed if she wasn’t there for a long way. She looks at least a good place hope and with the price on offer we can back her each way.
Wodonga Race 8 (Market)
Backing the two Mick Price runners to close out the day. (9) Frome The Stars won well first up at Ballarat on the synthetic track, coming from last to come home over the top. She won second up last preparation, she gets 3kg off for Mikayla Lawrence who retains the ride, and looks a very good winning chance once again. (11) Single Crown resumes from a spell. He placed in four of his five starts last preparation, with his only real failure being at Flemington behind Betcha Flying. His only career win came here at Wodonga over 1500m and this stable have had their runners firing first up so look for him to be very competitive. The odds of $4.20 and $5.50 mean we can back both of these.
Also backing: (9) Frome The Stars $4.20
