Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, October 6th
Goulburn Race 2 (Market)
This market will dramatically change once they scratch (5) Sweet Reply who is the current favourite, but I do fancy (8) The Empire at decent odds. This does look a maiden with plenty of speed and although he has drawn a touch awkwardly, he should be able to just sit off the speed from his inside and outside. I was quite impressed with his 34.2 last 600m at Nowra over this distance last start on the soft 5. He has plenty of upside and will come on nicely after that win. (4) Oribella to me looks the main danger after some nice sectionals last start, though she has struggled to take that next step with a win.
Goulburn Race 4 (Market)
With one spot left in The Kosciuszko, (2) Private Agent will be out to show why he should be picked. Resuming after a 5 month break, the Nicconi gelding was pretty impressive last preparation with a 4.5L win first-up at Wagga over the 1000m leading the entire way. They then took him to town where he missed the start and settled at the back, but still flew home to finish 6th, 1.8L within horses like Macroura, Wild Ruler, Newsreader and Ballistic Lover, which would all be well into the red here. Your getting $2.20 at the time of posting this, which is very enticing. Based on his form last preparation, he should be winning here.
Orange Race 2 (Market)
Looking likely to accept for this race instead of race 3 makes me think they value their chances with (6) Prodigal Prince, so I will be backing them in. I thought he was fair first-up at this track over the 1280m on the soft ground. Providing they do accept here, he will be stepping up to a mile instead of staying over 1300m which I believe will suit him second-up, along with getting back to a firmer surface. He is drawn well to get a nice run throughout and to switch off over the early to middle stages which I am sure will be Anthony Cavallo’s plan having ridden him last start. I do worry about (9) O’Tartan Lass who has fitness under her belt and will more than likely lead but I don’t think she will be alone up front, so I will take her on.

Orange Race 5 (Market)
I really want to be around (2) Egyptian Missile here after her nice win at Bathurst last start. Sitting just off the leaders, she stormed to the front and put the field away by 2.5L over the 1200m. The closing sectionals were what I was most impressed with, running 35.08 over the last 600m on a Soft 7. She probably should have broken her maiden first-up, but she ran into Close To Me as they both put the rest of the field away. She gets an ideal situation tackling this race third-up on a firmer surface though the draw is a touch sticky. She is the class runner of the race and just needs the luck in running to salute.
