Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, March 19th
Terang Race 5 - (Market)
(5) Snitz And The City resumed in a 64 at Geelong, she led for a long way before getting run down late and eventually running third, only beaten a half-length. She then went to the Bool, and was very easy in the betting, got further back than anticipated and ran on strongly into second in what has been a very good form reference. Last start at Kilmore she dropped back in class and started close to flip of the coin odds, she led again and after railing hard around the turn, bolted in and never looked like getting run down. John Allen retains the ride and hopefully he is positive again, there is speed and he should be able to slot in one-out one-back and ready to pounce.

Newcastle Race 3 - (Market)
(3) Zarzou was first-up at Newcastle last start, there was support for him fresh from double figures in. He had a good run in transit before turning for home just in behind the speed, he was held-up early in the straight before getting a split at the furlong. He didn’t explode through the gap but kept coming late, looked like he was crying out for further. He was beaten home by two of his opponents here, (2) Menagerie was really good into third after sitting wide without cover and certainly looks the main danger. (1) Warp Speed ran on well from the back into second but looked to have every chance. Off the inside barrier he is the one that I am willing to oppose, I can’t see him starting shorter than 5/2 ($3.50).
Newcastle Race 9 - (Market)
The feature of the day is the Provincial Champs Qualifier that was postponed from Gosford last Saturday. Interestingly, it is a very different race going from a small track like Gosford where there is only a furlong run home to a big expansive track like Newcastle. (8) Sir Elton is drawn wide but will be going forward anyway, he probably would have been better suited at Gosford with the long run to the first turn, but we may just be getting a better price now! He worked hard at his latest run at Canterbury and was only fair in the run home, the form from that race should stack up. He has had a month off but was brilliant winning a trial down the road at Wyong earlier this month. Would love to see him get across to the rails first!
Pakenham Race 4 - (Market)
There are five first-starters in this but am happy to pot them, they all should be big odds come jump time. (12) Lunakorn was runner-up at her first two starts, she had no luck in a hot form race on debut when running on into second then went to Sale and pulled up lame as a very short-priced favourite. She won an official trial at Cranbourne then went to the jump-outs at Balnarring a week ago. She jumped well and was never out of second gear winning that trial, a replay of that heat (10) can be found here. She looks ready to go fresh off those two trials.
