Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, July 25th
Kembla Grange Race 1 (Market)
First-up from more than year and travelled across the globe in that time, (1) Agosto goes in as our first bet of the day in what looks not the strongest of maidens. The gelding by Nathaniel has had two career starts in France, placed at the first of those then was well beaten at start two. He comes to the Waller yard and looks to have a bit of ability on what we saw at a recent Rosehill trial. He was just better than mid-field, forced to chase hard he ran on hard to just miss. These northern hemisphere stayers can produce over longer journey’s than what we are used to in Australia, his debut run was at 2200m! His main opposition in the betting will probably be eight-start maiden and perennial bridesmaid (3) Deelbraka. He has run second at five of those eight starts and has been very costly for punters. Happy to take him on again.
Kembla Grange Race 4 (Market)
An interesting maiden for the babies over the 1000m. (9) Our Sweet Love has been to the races twice, she debuted at Newcastle back in mid-February and placed beaten just under a length over 900m. She then went to a harder race at Rosehill and although she was outclassed and well beaten, she did have excuses. She was poorly away and settled well back, layed-in and shifted abruptly and contacted another runner hard. She was sent to the paddock and was seen at the Hawkesbury trials recently and ran second. She jumped well and could have led on her ear but was restrained, sat outside the eventual winner and although she had to be stoked up early in the straight, there was a lot to like about the way she went through the line. If she can use that natural speed and jumps as well as she did in the trial, Kathy O’Hara could take her to the front or outside the lead where she looks a great each-way chance at huge odds.

Echuca Race 6 (Market)
(2) Magnesium Rose has had three runs back this prep, only fair on the synthetic resuming then went to Sale against the girls and tried to lead all the way but was run down in what has been a good form reference. She had three weeks off before going to Sandown, once again sat up on the speed and was run over late but wasn’t beaten far. She is drawn perfectly in four and should be able to lead for a long way. A little concerning when you see the bar plates on, but with the good claim in an open race, she will give a sight up on the speed. (3) Cash Affair will be wanted in the betting first-up, she has won fresh before but she is going to be giving them a start and happy to be against her.
Townsville Race 1 (Market)
Another maiden, (2) Hey Pal has been to the races twice and has shown that the 1000m is about his maximum trip. He debuted at Rocky was very wide throughout without cover and actually hit the lead before faltering late. He was then at Rocky again last time on a soft track, shared the lead, ran to the front and was once again run down. Back to the 5 furlongs looks ideal and gets the blinkers back on which should have him switched on. The worry is the 23 next to his name, but these 1000m races are just jump and run affairs and if he gets away well, he should be able to burn early and not be too wide at the first turn.
