Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, April 30th
Wyong Race 4 - (Market)
(2) Reinvest is a son of Redoute’s Choice for the Gai/Bott team that debuted at Newcastle just over two weeks ago. He was solid in the market starting second favourite at an SP of around $3, he didn’t show the usual tactical speed that they normally do from this yard. He settled mid-field, was held-up slightly at the top of the straight before getting the split. He accelerated hard to find the front inside the last furlong and ran away to win by more than 2 lengths. The form out of that race has been solid with the fourth horse across the line winning at Gosford on Anzac Day. He should be going forward here out to the mile and looks to have plenty of upside.
Wagga Race 7- (Market)
The feature of the first day of the Wagga carnival is the Town Plate, (4) News Girl looked a great each-way bet to nothing off the inside draw but has been scratched (the track may be a no-go zone down towards the rail by now). (3) Southern Lad is first-up and looked the main danger on paper, he will be the one camped off them and peeling wide and finishing best. He absolutely loves it wet and from what I have seen, by this time of the day they will be scouting wide. He has had five starts in the wet for 3 wins and a placing, has won 2 of 5 when fresh and should get all the favours with the tempo. There is speed to burn and he should be too strong late. He has been good at two trials in town, I expect him to start in the red.
Pakenham Race 2 - (Market)
(4) Deponent debuted at Sale back in late March, he was a big drifter in the betting and after getting well back in the run, failed to do anything. He then went to Mornington on the soft track and got out to the 6 furlongs, again he was a big drifter with the satchel swingers. He was deep without cover mid-field and although he didn’t explode, he kept coming in the straight. With all the rain around he looks to handle the conditions well and this is no harder. He maps beautifully.
Pakenham Race 4 - (Market)
(5) Dance Ready is still a maiden after 6 starts but has placed at 4 of those runs. Two back at Wodonga over 1300m he was beaten as an odds-on favourite but was brave in defeat after making a long wide run. He then went to Cranbourne two weeks ago, was caught three-wide no cover up closer to the speed, kept chasing the entire straight and was only beaten under half a length, with a big gap to third. He gets out to the mile here and will push forward again, go again in the run if he happens to get to the rail first. I think he is good enough to win this type of maiden in the breeze.
