Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, September 1st
Wyong Race 7 (Market)
(2) Ariege has only missed a place once in her seven start career, that was a year ao when on debut n a heavy track, she didn’t have a lot of luck and wasn’t beaten far. She sat up on the speed last prep at the only heavy track run she had in a harder race at Hawkesbury, she faded late but did enough to hang on and place. She is resuming today and won her maiden when fresh at this track last prep, her trial leading into this was superb. She led in that Randwick trial and wasn’t bustled, pairing off with another horse and a gap back to third. She wasn’t let down at all, from the wide gate Avdulla should be on his bike early. I can’t see it any disadvantage to be sitting outside the leader today, she can kick at the top of the short straight and should be too good for these.
Wyong Race 8 (Market)
(10) Bid’n’bare looked a little ordinary on paper resuming at Newcastle against the girls, but I am happy to forgive that run as it seemed it was difficult to get into the race from the back with the tempo that was served up front. The key with her is the wet track, she bolted in to win her maiden at Taree on the heavy at her only try, her two soft track runs have resulted in a win and a second. Second-up last prep she ran on well in a similar race at Newcastle, not really sure where she will get to from the wide draw but I see it as no disadvantage to be covering ground here today. Hopefully they ride her a lot closer as she was at her last two runs before going to the paddock. There looks to be plenty of speed on paper, there is a very long run to the first turn from the 1350m chute here at Wyong, any cover in the run to that first turn will help. At the likely double figure odds, she looks a great each-way bet.
Toowoomba Race 5 (Market)
Locally trained (5) The Big House was off the map when resuming here last start a fortnight ago, he sat up outside the speed and stuck on well to be beaten by the narrowest of margins. THe betting thre suggested that he has come back in good order, and this looks no more difficult. He has the inside draw which may prove a little difficult but with the blinkers back on, if he jumps away with them, I can see them just kicking up and trying to lead all the way. He placed in town last prep and was a winner at his only other second-up run. That was here at the track and trip and he led all the way on that occasion, hopefully we get the same map and result here.
Moree Race 3 (Market)
It looks a race in two on paper between the topweight (1) Cullingworth and our tip (2) Helstar. The mile start here is basically on a bend so being drawn out is certainly no help, actually the whole run from start to straight is basically a turn so the advantage is certainly to be drawn in. Helstar is drawn one, he has been racing very consistently this time in which resulted in a last start win at Dubbo. He was mid-field in the run and came with one quick burst of speed to bolt in, the fourth horse out of that race has since come out and won. This is his first go at the track, I expect him to be behind the leader or three pairs back on the rail, he will only need an ounce of luck to get away from the rail and may be too quick in the run home. The toppy is certainly the main danger, he was having his first start since leaving the DK Weir stable last time for Kris Lees, he ran on well in what has proven a good form race. I just think that he will be giving our horse a big start, if he takes off early, he may get the jump on Helstar before he can extricate away from the fence. Looks an intriguing battle with two top country hoops, Bullock and Looker going at it.
