Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, May 3rd
Bendigo Race 2- (Market)
(3) Laybuy has had three starts placing at one of them, at his debut back in October. He resumed at Sandown on the inner track, he was stuck three-wide without cover throughout in the second half of the field. He stuck on well after a torrid run in a race where it was favourable to be closer to the speed. That was his first go on a rain affected track and he seemed to handled it well, he gets the blinkers off and is drawn well. He gets out in trip and I expect him to settle closer. The blinkers go off and he looks to have some upside.
Bendigo Race 5 -(Market)
A stack of scratching;s here but we should still be left with three place dividends. (2) Liberty Song doesn’t win out of turn but has been impressive the improvement he has shown at his last two runs. He sat three-wide no cover two back at Swan Hill and stuck on well to place in a blanket finish. He then went to Benalla on the rain-affected track, sat outside the speed before hitting the front inside the last 100m and was only nabbed late. He has good tactical speed, drawn well with a claim and his last win was on a heavy track at Ballarat (Heavy 9), He looks to handle it very well.

Sapphire Coast Race 1 - (Market)
(7) Raven’s Rabbit is still a maiden after 7 starts, he is an interesting runner that was formerly trained in the USA. He had 5 starts there before coming to Australia, he had his first local run at Moruya back in October, showed a stack of speed to lead and was run down late. He then went to the bigger track at Wagga, again showed speed but was very flat and weakened badly. He hasn’t been seen at the trials for this return to racing but this looks a lot easier than that last start when he was a well backed favourite. The jock is flying, the horse has a stack of speed and should be hard to run down over the 900m.
Sapphire Coast Race 4 - (Market)
I want to be against the likely favourite here (6) Rubaiya, which led to (13) Wakame with the in-form Blaike McDougall legging up. She is a 5-start maiden that is a little enigmatic but her best looks to be good enough. She placed at Queanbeyan thre back before never getting into the race at the same track the nest start. Last time at Goulburn, she had a good run in transit and although she had her chance, she stuck on well to only be beaten a half-length. It looks a great jockey change and she gets the blinkers for the first time. The favourite Rubaiya will have support from the Matty Dale yard but she really has had her chances at both runs this time in. Couldn’t have her at flip of the coin odds.
