We’ve got a massive day of racing all around the country today with quality meetings at Randwick and Moonee Valley to get stuck into. Spring has finally arrived and we get to see some of the big gun G1 horses return to the track today.
Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the meetings and has found his best bets to help you have a fill up this Saturday.
Moonee Valley Race 1
(3) Sandy Prince handles all conditions and that might be beneficial with plenty of uncertainty around the weather in Melbourne. He’s been flying this prep and is yet to miss the quinella in five career starts. Goes in search of a hattrick while he looks ready for 1500m now 4th up. Should get a cozy ride with Willo in the saddle from the good gate and see no reason why he can’t continue his winning ways.
Randwick Race 6
Very open race here but I think (7) Najmaty looks extremely hard to beat and was a certainty beat last start behind Gimme Par. Was keen to follow wherever she went and she strikes a hot race but I think she has the class to win. Barrier 9 is probably okay for her as she’ll look to get to the outside and wind up late. Admit there are some smart horses engaged but 1200m is ideal now and the price is attractive enough.
Randwick Race 7
Pretty exciting to finally see (1) Zaaki back at the races today as he begins her quest towards the Cox Plate. Slight query will be him tackling this trip fresh with bigger fish to fry but I think he is just better than these. Trials have been quiet but gets a pass mark for those and you’d expect him to be going very close today. His Autumn prep was simply incredible with many touting him as the best horse in the country. Those sort of wraps don’t come around often and if he can come back even 90% wound up I’d expect him to be too good.
Jump on the promo at the TAB which offers odds of $4.00 for Zaaki and The Cascadian to finish Top 3 which looks a fantastic bet!
Moonee Valley Race 6
(8) Argentia was seen once in her first prep, winning very impressively and has been put away by the stable with big Spring targets in mind. She looks a very smart filly, won a recent trial on heavy so the rain shouldn;t be an issue and Oli can give her a positive ride from gate 2. Admittedly she has to take on better horses than she’s faced before but there is enough hype and talk from the stable to suggest she will be winning again.
Randwick Race 10
(13) Atishu could not have been more impressive on her local debut, letting down from back in the field to win with a leg in the air. She put them away within a couple of strides there and proved she’s a serious horse. Barrier 13 looks good as she will get back anyway and should see plenty of clear running air. Any rain that comes will be no issue for her and at the $3+ she looks a very good bet.
