It’s high-quality Group 1 racing around the country today with meetings at Randwick, Gold Coast and Caulfield. We’ll see Verry Elleegant tackle the George Main Stakes while Caulfield hosts the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.
Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the meetings and has found his best bets across the country.
Horse Racing Tips: Saturday, September 18th
Gold Coast Race 2
The topweight in (1) Purrfect Deal will have to carry 62kg after the claim for Jaden Lloyd but I still think he’s in relatively well at the weights. Was only just beaten by the in-form London Banker last start, but it was a huge performance and this race today is much easier than what he’s been going around in. Up in trip now 2nd up and I think she will be too good for this lot.
Caulfield Race 1
Think (2) The Gauch is a cracking bet here to start the day. Was very good fresh and is a seriously bulletproof horse, rarely running a bad race. Loomed up first up and probably needed the run and is 2/2 with a run under his belt. Yes to 1200m and I think he should be favourite. It’s a pretty weak field outside the top two in the market and I think this horse has a few more ticks against his name.
Caulfield Race 5
(3) Ranveer is a serious horse and I’m excited to see him back at the races. Started $2.60 against Profiteer on debut, finishing 2nd there before being too strong in only Winter start. Stable have put him away quickly and he’s now primed to fire fresh. Think this horse will win some hot races this prep and if his trials are anything to go off, he is flying.
Caulfield Race 6
Think most people will be tipping (3) Annavisto here who looks extremely hard to beat on the back of her last start performance. She was taking ground off Turaath to be beaten less than a length and that horse has since come out and won a Group 2. This race looks relativley weak and with even like I think she should be winning.
Randwick Race 9
(14) She’s Ideel has been enormous this prep and has really stamped herself as a group-level stayer. She recorded the fastest L600/400/200 when fresh behind Mo’unga and Verry Eleegant before being caught in the worst part of the track last start. She’s got a great record 3rd up and out to 2000m now looks extremely suitable. Looks ready to win one.
