We’ve got a cracking day of racing all around the country today with quality meetings at Randwick, Caulfield and Eagle Farm. The highlight of the day sees the Queensland Derby being run at Eagle Farm.
Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the meetings and has found his best bets to help you have a fill up this Saturday.
Horse Racing Tips: Saturday, May 29th
Caulfield Race 6
(4) Yonkers looks an extremely good chance here in what is a weaker race than he has faced in recent times. Is absolutely flying and arguably should’ve won last start at Wagga after bolting in here at Caulfield. Stays at 2000m yet again which could be some query but loves Caulfield and will enjoy the gun run here from gate 4.
Caulfield Race 8
Think Peter Moody might have a pretty smart horse in his hands in (5) Riot And Rose. Hasn’t put a foot wrong in two career starts, will roll forward from out wide and is pretty bulletproof from there. Finds Oliver and getting out to the mile 3rd up looks a perfect setup. Looks to have plenty of upside and if Oli can find the front without burning too much petrol it looks hard to beat.
Eagle Farm Race 2
Thought (9) Superium would be hard to beat here 4th up. Been bursting for a win after a string of placings in some good races and the rails draw looks a big positive here today. Looks well placed and if he’s going to win one this prep, this looks his best chance.
Eagle Farm Race 5
(2) Le Don De Vie absolutely bolted in last in the Warrnambool Cup beating Heart Of Puissance. That form has obviously stacked up since and this horse looks perfectly placed today. Slightest rise to 2400m is fine and has had a little freshen up since his last start win. Will roll forward and gets the services of Jmac which can only be a positive.
Eagle Farm Race 7
The highlight of the day sees the 3 year olds do battle in the G1 Queensland Derby. I’m happy to take on the favourite and side with the Sydney visitor in (9) Senor Toba. Draws terribly out wide but can argue he would’ve got back anyway. This horse has plenty of talent and won the G3 Packer Plate two starts back before a huge run last start at Doomben. Think he will love getting to this track and out to 2400m is a massive tick. Bowman has been keen on his chances and at the $5+ looks a good bet.
