We’ve got a cracking day of racing all around the country today as Group 1 racing really starts to kick in. We’ve got quality meetings at Kembla Grange and Doomben while Caulfield will play host to the feature race of the day as the Group 1 Memsie Stakes takes place.
Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the meetings and has found his best bets to help you have a fill up this Saturday.
Horse Racing Tips: Saturday, August 28th
Kembla Grange Race 2
(6) Royalzel looks extremely well placed here in this Midway today. He stamped himself as a serious and versatile horse last prep, bolting in on a wet Sydney track before going to Flemington and bolting in again on a dry track. His form is far superior to anything else in this race and with Jmac from barrier 3 should map for the perfect run. Trial behind Eduardo recently was good and 1300m is fine now hes on the fresh side.
Caulfield Race 3
(7) Turaath was one of the more impressive winners of the day last start, winning by nearly 4L over this trip at Flemington and clearly relished getting onto the driest track she’d seen all prep. Should get similar conditions here today and she ran some serious time there last start. Think she could be well above average and this looks a nice race for her to continue her progression through the grades.
Caulfield Race 5
Looking forward to seeing the return of (1) Masked Crusader who trialled as well as you’ll ever see them trial in the lead up to this. This horse has been confirmed for the Everest and has proven himself to be one of the top line sprinters in the land. Even with 60kg he really should just be beating these. Slight query on where he gets to in the run but you’d think they’ll try find some cover in the run and the horse will do the rest with even luck. I think you can wait till pre-race and probably get a getter price for him as well.

Doomben Race 7
Another horse who I’m keen to see back at the races is (1) Prince Of Boom who won the G3 Champagne at his 2nd start before nothing went right in the Sires. He has a heap of talent and that Champagne win came over this track/trip. Has trialled very well leading into this and he maps for a nice run in behind the speed from barrier 7.
Kembla Grange Race 9
(6) Andermatt looks the best on the card at Kembla today and absolutely flies fresh. Form around it last prep was as hot as you’ll see at the races today and should relish all conditions. Won a trial leading into today, been smashed in early markets and our man Jmac will do the steering again. Maps for a better run than most of key rivals today and should be be going very close.
