Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Monday, October 12th.
It's a fairly quiet start to a big week, with three country meetings at Gunnedah, Muwillumbah and Echuca. Tim Geers has found a best bets for all three meetings in his preview below!
Horse Racing Tips: Monday, October 12th
Gunnedah Race 5 (Market)
Has been smashed in betting already as it does look a very nice race for (1) Another Arli, who ran midfield in a Highway Handicap in town last start behind Scarleo. Prior to that he won by 2.8L at Tamworth to break his maiden. The winkers go back on, he drops back heavily in grade today, should find the lead with the 3kg apprentice on and will take a power of beating.
Murwillumbah Race 7 (Market)
Murwillumbah is a playground for trainer Matthew Dunn, so it’s about finding which runner/s of his throughout the day is worth backing. I think (2) Divine Diva appears very hard to beat here to close out the card. She’s had two runs back now, going down less than half-a-length first up before losing in a headbobber last time out. Third up, up to 1550m, comes into barrier 3 after scratchings and this looks her right race.
Echuca Race 8 (Market)
Going to play around the favourite here and back two at better odds. (4) Lodestar resumes as a gelding today and creates some interest despite drawing wide. Colin Little only brought one horse here last season and it won. (10) Tsushima had no luck last start, caught three-wide the trip, and prior to that was beaten a nose. Daniel Moor replaces Alana Kelly today, a big jockey change, and she draws barrier 1 as well. It’s the stable’s only runner of the day and they have two winners from three starters here at Echuca so far this season. $8.00 looks a good bet.
Also backing: (4) Lodestar $5.50
