Grafton Race 2 - (Market)
(5) Miss Whittington showed potential at her first prep, she was runner-up at her last start before going to the paddock in what was a very good form reference. She won a trial on the heavy track before resuming here at the track two weeks ago. She was easy in the market late to start around the $5.50 mark, she settled just behind the two leaders. Peeling around the top two at the top of the straight, she ran to the front quickly when balanced up and was strong through the line. She does have to step out of maiden grade but gets a very winnable Class 1 against her own sex. She maps to get that cold sit again and back in trip certainly doesn't hurt.

Grafton Race 3 - (Market)
We are once again with a last start resuming maiden winner stepping up to a Class 1. (2) Manly Hanover only had one start at his first prep, did plenty wrong and looked to have a lot to learn. He was sent to the paddock and had two trials leading into his return to the races, winning the latest at his home track at Port Macquarie. He resumed there on a soft track almost three weeks ago, showed good speed to lead and kicked well into the straight to win comfortably. The tempo was solid throughout so they were entitled to run him down, the second horse came out and won his maiden at the latest. He is drawn out wide but if he can begin well, I doubt they will able to hold him out early and prove very hard to catch.
Tamworth Race 1 - (Market)
(4) Catalanic has shown very little at three of four runs this campaign, the outlier being the one heavy track run here at the Tamworth track. That race was two starts back in early April, she settled behind the speed on the inside before easing around them and hitting the line well to be beaten a length and a half. She looked to get through the conditions well and this certainly looks easier dropping back to a Class 1 and Maiden. The jockey is in good form, she was only fair last time but the key her eis getting back on the bog track.
Tamworth Race 4 - (Market)
Again we are with Sam Clenton, (3) Step On Fire was a winner on debut at his home track at Scone. He was only fairly away before working over to lead and never looked like getting run down to win by almost 4 lengths. He was poor second-up then had a three-week let-off before his last start back at Scone. He led, looked a chance until the last 100m where he was swamped late. The heavy track is a little query but assuming he handles it, from the good draw he will be very hard to run down.
