Horse Racing Tips: Monday, March 23rd
Goulburn Race 2 - (Market)
(4) Fast Melody is a gelding form the Golden Slipper winning yard of Gai and Adrian, he is lining up for start 6 today. He was very heavily backed here at the track when resuming over 1300m, after being slowly away he ran on ok into third but never looked a winning chance after getting too far back and the tempo was against. He was then here again last time and started deep in the red over a mile, sat just off the pace this time but was a little flat second-up and very disappointing. He steps right up in trip past the 2000m for the first time, off the inside gate I can see him leading and being very hard to run down. If you are into SP profiles, this guy ticks a lot of boxes (last chance though).
Goulburn Race 7 - (Market)
(1) Moon Panther is one of the more interesting runners of the day. The son of So You Think is coming to the races for the first time since being transferred from the Les Tilley yard to the Bjorn Baker stable. He was very consistent through his last prep, won his maiden at Muswellbrook two starts back then was poor before going to the paddock. He has had two recent trials, both of them good enough including a heavy track placing in town last time. He showed enough tactical speed last prep and I anticipate he will be right up on the pace. I would love to see some money for him but with the positive stable change, he looks a great each-way bet at the price. I am happy to take on (4) Designer Dance, she was a brilliant last start winner at Wagga but got all the favours. She will be giving them a start and off the inside gate, will need everything to go right again. Hit the pink lay button with her.

Murwillumbah Race 2 - (Market)
(5) Fanx has been up a while and doesn’t exactly have a great record this time in, he has been to the races 8 times this campaign and still yet to record a win. He has however had a couple of encouraging runs of late in harder races than this. Three back at the Gold Coast he led for him before being run down late in what has proven a good form race. Then he went to Eagle Farm and again led clearly, was run down late into second in a race that has produced three subsequent winners. The key points here are Steph Thornton going back on, down in grade from the inside barrier and on the smaller track, he should be leading for a long way.
Murwillumbah Race 6 - (Market)
There are a few unknowns here with the first-starters, but unless one of them is truck-loaded in the betting, I am happy to be with (7) Gentleman’s Words to win. She is a former Hayes/Hayes/Dabernig trained filly that has come north and now with the Matty Dunn yard. She has had one run for the new stable, she started 6/4 favourite at Grafton 8 days ago and although she was only beaten under 2 lengths, she will be better for the run. She has enough tactical speed to take up a position, with that run under her belt second-up here and gun hoop Robbie Fradd taking the ride, this looks no harder.
