Horse Racing Tips: Monday, April 27th
Grafton Race 4 - (Market)
OK, so those that follow the site will know that I was against (3) Jet Pilot last week for all the very same reasons we should be against him today! He has now had 24 starts and still yet to win and only placing 5 times. He has been runner-up at his last three and must be getting awfully frustrating for connections. The reason I am with him here is that this looks much a much easier race than last week at the same track and trip. He was worse than mid-field in the run, improved between runners before the jockey was pushed out of the way early in the straight by the eventual winner. She was forced to swing wide on him and ran on hard to narrowly miss, I have no doubt that if he got the run the winner got (and was entitled to do so) he would have won. Today is his day!
Grafton Race 7 - (Market)
(6) Gentlemen’s Words is a former Hayes/Hayes/Dabernig trained filly that has been with the Matty Dunn yard for three starts. She was beaten as favourite here resuming, sat parked at Murwillumbah two back and after looking the winner, was run down late, again as favourite. Last start at Ballina she was very short, deep into the red. She sat up on the speed and held the inside, hit the front early in the straight and put a gap on them. She does have to step out of maiden grade for the first time but has been improving at each run, will go forward and clearly shown she has the ability to winning better races than at maiden level.

Narromine Race 4 - (Market)
(2) Slatey Bay has the extreme draw to overcome, he has won two of his last four runs and is racing well. Two back at Wellington on the heavy track, he was well backed late and after having a gun run behind the speed, got the split and won well, albeit narrowly. He then went to Orange in a harder race last time, had a good run in transit mid-field on the rails and had plenty to offer without really getting a crack at them along the inside. With any cover here he should be able to run on hard in the middle of the track.
Narromine Race 8 - (Market)
The Diggers Cup is the feature of the day at Narromine, (4) Sneak Preview for the Kody Nestor team will have to be good to overcome the visitor’s draw, but he looks the class runner of the field. Two starts back at Coonamble he was in a country Champs qualifier, got back in the run before getting a cart into the straight out wide. He kept going with the run to score by almost a length with a big gap to third. He went to the final at Randwick three starts ago and was a 20/1 chance, he was mid-field in the run and was held-up for a big portion of the straight. He was only beaten 2.3 lengths and undoubtedly should have finished closer. The big field should ensure the speed is on, he will get back but with any cover when they start the runs down the back and side, he should finish too hard.
