Horse Racing Tips: Friday, September 11th
Tuncurry Race 2 (Market)
(4) Prospero makes his stable debut for Nathan Doyle today, having previously been with the Waterhouse/Bott team. He’s placed in four of his six career starts to date and Nathan Doyle is very good at getting horses to improve in his care. He also has a good record with horses he gets from other stables winning first up for his stable. His number one jockey Koby Jennings takes the ride here and with any luck, he looks quite clearly the horse to beat.
Tuncurry Race 8 (Market)
This is a really competitive race, with a number of winning chances, but we’re getting $5.00/$2.00 for (11) Dreaming Of Gold here, which looks an each way bet to nothing. This is another horse from the Nathan Doyle stable and she’s also first up today. She’s had eight career starts for one win and six 2nd placings, so she’s always around the mark. She struggles to get her head in front but from those six 2nd placings, the furthest she was beaten was 1.15L, so she is always in the finish. Koby Jennings is again booked to ride and although it’s a tough race, I think with each way odds available, we can confidently back her with a 1x4 place heavy sort of bet.
(11) Dreaming Of Gold E/W
$5.00
Goulburn Race 7 (Market)
Whenever the Snowden stable bring horses to Goulburn, they normally get a result. They had a 35% strike rate here last season. They are represented by (1) Janneke here with Alysha Collett booked to ride. She’s only had one career start, where she ran 5th behind Rocha Clock at Newcastle. That form has turned out to be very strong for a race like this. She’s been off a long time since that race but she’s had plenty of trials and she finds a very winnable race. She should be hard to beat here from a good draw. Another trainer that is worth following at Goulburn is John O’Shea, who had six winners from 14 runners here last season. His only runner of the day is (3) Running Four Bub, ridden by Sam Clipperton. He hasn’t done much in his first two starts this prep (though he lost the rider first up), but this is a much easier race. I wouldn’t be letting him go around at $15.
Value: (3) Running Four Bub $15
Sunshine Coast Race 1 (Market)
Two horses I’m interested in backing in the first at the Sunshine Coast tonight. (3) Gekko makes its debut from the Natalie McCall stable. Her stable goes very well here on her home track and this is her only runner of the night. His recent trial behind Weona Smartone was good – they cleared out from the third horse – and I think you’ll see Weona Smartone come out and win Race 2 after this one. Drawn wide with Dale Smith aboard which is the main concern, but with $6.00 on offer I have to take that price. David Vandyke just wins whatever he wants at the moment and he has (7) Smart Star Prince on debut here. Notably, Ryan Maloney isn’t booked to ride and instead Sean Cormack is on. I’ll be having a saver bet on him.
Saver: (7) Smart Star Prince $3.00
Sunshine Coast Race 2 (Market)
I don’t like tipping horses that are under $2.00 but I just think (1) Weona Smartone is the good thing of the day and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this start $1.65 or so. He’s another horse from the David Vandyke stable, which I might add has had 16 winners from 29 starters this season! He trialled well leading into his debut at Doomben back in December last year. He was backed from $1.85 into $1.70 for that race but could only manage to finish 5th of 8. He hasn’t been seen since so I suspect he may have had an issue after that. You have to respect both his SP and the weight of money he received in that race, which indicated he was expected to win. He’s trialled once leading into this first up run, which he won, Maloney goes straight on first up and I would be very surprised if he didn’t win this.
Sunshine Coast Race 4 (Market)
We had success yesterday with a Tony Gollan runner at Ipswich and I’m hoping for the same outcome today here at the Sunshine Coast, with his only runner for the day (2) Hussonman. Gollan’s had six winners from 15 runners at this track so far this season. Baylee Nothdurft makes the trip for just two rides, this being one of them. The horse was outclassed first up at Doomben but this looks an easier race, the step up in distance second up should suit, and hopefully with a bit of luck from the tricky gate we can get a result.
