Moonee Valley & Rosehill Tips
Moonee Valley Race 7 (Market)
(2) Thought Of That looks to map superbly here from barrier 2. If the recent trend of leader’s being advantaged continues, he’s going to be very hard to run down. He hasn’t been able to really control a race this preparation, but he should get first use of the rail here, on his preferred good ground. The step up to 2040m should suit as his best win was over the 10 furlongs as a 3yo, and the gap between runs is no issue for the Maher/Eustace stable. At $3.80, he looks a good bet.

The favourite, (11) Vowmaster looks short enough here at $1.80 given he’s likely to settle near the tail of the field, which could make things very tough if it’s a highway once again. One that will go forward is (6) High Risk. She failed first up on a heavy 10 deck but is much better suited on a good track. Her form last prep around some handy sprinting mares such as Mrs Beckham is strong, and if she can get across to a good position, ideally in front, without spending too much petrol she’ll be right in the finish at $8.50.
Rosehill Race 2 (Market)
(2) Kiku is the favourite and looks hard to beat for Jmac/Waller. She ran first up on a heavy track over 1100m and was unable to reel in the leader, who looks to be a fairly handy horse and may have relished the conditions. There was a big gap back to 3rd there, and Jmac takes the ride from Kathy O’Hara. Last prep this filly started $2.40 favourite in a strong 2yo race and ran well for 3rd behind Bellevue Star and Elizabeel, who have strong listed form. She draws wide here, but with any luck in running I expect her to prove too strong.
Rosehill Race 6 (Market)
In an open race, I thought (7) Instant Attraction could bounce back. The key to this mare is a dry track, which she gets here. Last start on the Kensington circuit she encountered a soft 6, which isn’t her go. She beat a fairly handy field the start prior at Warwick Farm over this distance after being held up for clear running in the straight. Nash Rawiller keeps the ride, and I expect him to be very aggressive from barrier 1 to try and hold the lead. Any on pace pattern would only assist, and I think she’ll be in the finish.
