Horse Racing Tips: Friday, May 1st
Pakenham Synthetic Race 1 - (Market)
(10) Redeel is a first starter for the Mick Price yard. She has had three jump-outs, the latest at Sandown on the Hillside track where she ran second in what was the fastest of the morning trials. She jumped well, sat on the speed and wasn’t tested throughout whilst many around her were under hard riding. A replay of that jump-out can be found here. There are obviously plenty of unknowns, some of them in decent jump-outs but happy to be Redeel, assuming she will be up on the speed.
Pakenham Synthetic Race 3 - (Market)
We are tipping another one off the un-official trials, (1) All About Fashion is a debutant for the Hayes/Hayes/Dabernig yard. The daughter of Written Tycoon has had three trials, only one of the jump-outs this time in. At Flemington two weeks ago she jumped well, held the inside and was never out of second gear beating the other two runners with authority. A replay of that latest jump-out can be found here. (11) Zastarisborn is another on debut that has shown talent, she was at the jump-outs the same day and led all the way in slower time to our tip. The key could be the early tactics and the ability to handle the wet track.

Muswellbrook Race 2 - (Market)
(6) Sea Boss had trialed well prior to having his debut at Randwick back in late January in a much harder maiden than this. He was examined by the vet at the barrier and passed fit to run, After only going a couple of hundred metres the jockey pulled him out of the race and failed to finish (I am sure those that backed him that day were pleased with the Vet’s work!). He was sent to the paddock and has had two trials leading into this. The latest was at Newcastle on the inner track, he jumped well and assumed control and led throughout. A replay of that can be found here. He has the wide draw but should be able to take up a position after jumping well in that latest trial.
Wagga Race 7 - (Market)
The feature of the day and the year in these parts of the world is the Wagga Cup. It is a shame that the top two saddlecloths have been scratched, but it is still a cracking race at Listed level. (9) Kaapfever loves the wet and if yesterday is anything to go by, we really need to be finding the swimmers. He was runner-up on the heavy track last start at Warwick Farm, he got well back in the run before fanning very wide on the turn, he ran on hard to miss by the narrowest of margins in what was the best last 800m of the race. A little concern that the blinkers go back on, the last time he did that was a year ago to the day and he was a little wayward. Pray for more rain and look for him late.
