Horse Racing Tips: Friday, July 19th
Dubbo Race 1 (Market)
I like to target set-weight maidens as they often give you a chance to pen half the field, first-starter (5) Bellszov Bourke for local trainer looks well in. He had an official trial at Narromine back in late March, she was super impressive after doing things wrong. She dipped at the start but accelerated quickly and showed good natural speed to lead. She hung badly around the turn but once the jock straightened her up she got away so easily and was pulled up the last 100m and still won by more than seven lengths. She had the blinkers on in the trial, no doubt they have worked on a few things but she has raw speed and will be too quick for this lot.

Ipswich Race 3 (Market)
Although she has had 11 chances to break the duck, (2) Kerema Mori gets back on top of the ground at her third run from the spell after hitting rain affected tracks at the first two. She is also coming back in trip which looks suitable as she will be on the speed, she led last time and from the good gate should be able to land on the bunny. This is clearly easier than her last two and tactical speed here at Ipswich is a big advantage.
Pakenham Race 2 (Market)
(12) Excelida is a most interesting runner in this maiden with set weight conditions. She is only a 2YO taking on the older horses so gets in down at the 54kg and has the winkers for the first time. She debuted at the Valley back in the Summer, was slowly away, green and did plenty wrong but was only beaten 4 lengths. She was sent straight to the paddock, it looked like an educational run and resumed in NSW last time on the Kenso track. She was once again slowly away but found the line well in what has been a very good form reference, 4 winners have come through that race in the last month. Getting out to the 6 furlongs may still not be enough, if she handles the synthetic track, she looks to have more upside than her opponents here.
Taree Race 3 (Market)
(6) Veganza has to step out of maiden company for the first time, she placed at her first two since coming back from the paddock before going back to her home track at Port Macquarie and ran on hard from the back to get win number one. She is drawn beautifully in four, will be able to settle a little closer and if she finishes as well as last time, will be too strong. There will be plenty of opposition as the big players usually like to take on last start maiden winners, so wait until closer to the jump to back her. (7) Zumbrowka looks her main danger but happy to take him on against the older horses. He has only been fair since winning his maiden and last start had every possible chance after a charmed run behind the leader.
Taree Race 6 (Market)
(1) Zioptimus won at Grafton at Class 3 level two back before having a month off. He resumed at the Clarence River Jockey Club a week ago in a much harder Class 6 and ran on well without ever looking like winning. He gets the good claim again here but does have to carry a lot more weight back to the BM58 against the boys, the speed map looks to have ample pace up front so he should be suited back in the field. He is a winner at the track previously and handles the soft conditions, look for him late.
