Horse Racing Tips: Friday, January 15th
Moonee Valley Race 3 (Market)
(1) Aminatu looks the clear horse to beat here. She was very good behind subsequent Flemington winner Zesty Belle first up at Mornington, which the market clearly rates, as she was heavily backed at Cranbourne but was caught wide on speed. This isn’t any harder, and with even luck from a wide gate she should be too strong.
(11) Sweet As Scandi comes through a weaker race in my opinion but does map better from barrier 4.
Moonee Valley Race 4 (Market)
Two at odds that look value here. (6) Anikery is a mare in scintillating form, having won her last 3. The 3000m will be no issue and she should be able to find the front again with in form apprentice Will Price taking the reins.
(1) Southern Rock has come back a very dour stayer with no turn of foot. I thought he improved a fair bit last start over 2380m at Caulfield, beaten 5.8L in a much stronger race. Up to 3000m looks ideal and he’ll be the other horse going forward.
Moonee Valley Race 5 (Market)
Keen on (10) The Mobot here. I thought her run over 1100m was very good last start in a strong race at Caulfield behind Hidden Legend. She’s never seen the 955m circuit, but I think her best trip is 1000m, so she should be speedy enough. She gets a very handy 3kg claim and could be quick enough to hold the front from barrier 4.
(4) The Last Napoleon is the clear danger and was desperately unlucky here last start. He’ll get back from a wide gate but will be hitting the line strongly.
