Horse Racing Tips: Friday, August 30th

August 30th 2019, 6:58am, By: Luke Krahe

Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Friday, August 30th.

Our final chance to build a bank before the return of Group 1 racing on the weekend is with the Pakenham and Gosford meetings this afternoon! Luke Krahe has picked out his best bets for each track below!

Horse Racing Tips: Friday, August 30th

Pakenham Race 1 (Market)

With the early scratching of Rebel Excel, it really does look set-up for the 10-start maiden (4) Nero Veloce. He has only had the two runs on the synthetic, the first was when resuming here over a mile which looked too short for him on paper. He raced here in a similar field last time and sat well back, got very wide on the turn before running on well to just miss in a blanket finish. He stays at the same trip and the smallish field suits, the leader that day was (3) front Page News, he kicked hard into the straight but failed to run out the trip. He will likely roll along in front again but unless he gets it very soft and can turn it into a 200m dash up the straight, it is hard to see him holding out the swoopers.

(4) Nero Veloce

$1.95

Pakenham Race 6 (Market)

(7) Kurocaine is still yet to win out of maiden grade, something he did back at his debut just under a year ago. He is rock hard fit and has had plenty of experience on the synthetic tracks, two back at Ballarat he had no luck when held-up at a vital stage before running on hard along the rails to narrowly miss. He was here at the track only 5 days ago and is on the quick back-up, he over-raced after sitting wide and stuck on well enough covering extra ground. Drawn well here he should get a beautiful run in transit, admittedly his form on the Ballarat track is better than here but this looks his race. (5) Jahbath looks the main danger if he can handle the surface, a good maiden winner two back he then went to Bendigo on a heavy track and ran on fairly in what looks a good form race going forward.

(7) Kurocaine

$4.20

Gosford Race 5 (Market)

(2) Head Spins is on debut for local trainer Adam Duggan, he is drawn out but that is of little consequence here at Gosford over the 1000m as it is a nice long run to the first turn. He trialed here early this month, was bolting all the way up the straight behind the leading line of horses and went to the line under a hold. He then trialed on a better surface on the Beaumont track at Newcastle, was mid-field, travelled well into the straight before today’s race rider, Josh Parr, got busy at about the 300m mark. He really picked up well and responded, quickly dashed to the front before he sat up again over the last 100m. There is obviously some unknowns but I really liked the way he trialed and at a better than each-way quote, he looks a great bet that way.

(2) Head Spins E/W

$6.00

Gosford Race 8 (Market)

(10) Point Of Interest is a 3YO filly resuming taking on the older girls, she has only been to the races once and was a winner at Newcastle back in the summer over 900m. From the Waterhouse/Bott yard, she looks to have come back well from what we saw at her latest trial at Randwick> She jumped well and sat outside the speed a length off the leader, she was cuddled into the straight where she and the leader/winner got right away. She was urged along briefly from about the 300m mark to the furlong but responded and was string through the line. As you would expect from this team, she will be ready to go fresh, showed more speed in the trial than what she did on debut. Although it is always tough to jump out of maiden grade following your first win, I do prefer when the girls take on their own sex at the first attempt.

(10) Point Of Interest

$5.50
