Welcome to our preview and horse racing betting tips for racing at Sha Tin on Sunday, November 18th.
We’ve got a terrific day of racing as we head toward the Hong Kong International Races next month, with a trio of Group 2’s on the 10-race card.
We’ve got betting tips and comments for every race on the card below!
HAPPY VALLEY BEST BETS
RACE 3
Khaki gets his chance to record back-to-back victories at this track and distance after saluting by 1.3L last start. He goes up in weight tonight as a result of that last win so carries the full 60.5kg tonight. Drawn similarly tonight to what he was last start and should prove hard to beat again. The value in the race could be Leisured Feet who is first up from a spell. His only career victory came first up and he’s also run 2nd on three occasions from four goes at this track and distance.
RACE 5
Can’t possibly see anything other than High Volatility or Har Har Heart winning this. High Volatility has run three consecutive 2nds coming into this, all at Sha Tin, and typically that form is a bit stronger than Happy Valley form. He’s got two wins at the track and distance to his name and draws perfectly in barrier 5 for Karis Teetan. Har Har Heart, on the other hand, resumed with a 4th placing over this track and distance, beaten just a length after starting from barrier 12. Much better drawn tonight in barrier 2, which should see him box seat in the run. He’s had 10 starts at the track and distance for three wins and three placings and John Size runners usually improve with a run under their belt. Both hard to beat, leaning towards Har Har Heart and will save on High Volatility.
RACE 6
Two I’m keen to back here, both around $5.50. Super Lucky resumed with a good 3rd placing over the 1200m at this track and now jumps up straight to 1650m, which is some query, but he’s drawn well and finds a winnable race. Magic Success has had two runs back from a spell and was 3rd last start over the track and distance. Has trialled nicely since then and Purton takes over third up tonight. Drawn perfectly and looks hard to beat. Backing both.
Also backing Super Lucky $5.50
RACE 8
Beauty Loyal draws barrier 1 here. Barrier 1 has produced 14 winners from 60 starters this season with the rail in this position at the 1200m at Happy Valley. That’s five more than the next most successful barrier, so the right horse certainly has an advantage with the inside draw. Beauty Loyal ran very well first up before two somewhat luckless runs and with the gate in his favour tonight, he looks a good chance of breaking through for a win. Seven Heavens gets a drop in grade and Zac Purton takes over the reigns third up. The Purton/Fownes combination is always one to watch so he could be the value at $15.
