Happy Valley hosts the annual International Jockey’s Championship. It’s always a phenomenal night of racing leading into the International Races at Sha Tin on Sunday. Keen on a few here so hopefully we can get a result.
Blake Lalor brings you his preview and Happy Valley racing tips for Wednesday night. Check out his best bets of the card below!
Happy Valley Racing Tips: Wednesday, December 7th
Race 4
(11) Handsome Rebel is capable of winning this race under Vincent Ho and has been going well for new trainer Jamie Richards this prep. He’s got a light weight and will only need to get across from a slightly wide draw to be right in this. Well worth a play at current odds.
(4) Circuit Seven would be my on top selection had he not lost the 4.5kg claim he had last time with Angus Chung aboard. Regardless, he has to be in the selections and will give a good sight.
(1) Forte hasn’t had any trials since ending last prep well with 2 minor placings. If he’s ready to go here he can make a big impact with Hugh Bowman aboard from a good gate. The query is whether he’ll be ready 1st up.
(7) Supreme Lucky was ok on debut from a wide gate. He’ll benefit from a good draw, Zac Purton getting aboard, and the blinkers being applied. That said, I’m not sure I can justify the favouritism for him after just one 5th placing.
(11) Handsome Rebel Each-Way
$11/$3.50 (0.5 Units)
Race 5
(4) Spicy Grill is a nice price here having found a race which looks to have plenty of pace on paper. He’s a horse who thrives off strong tempos as he regularly drifts back in races and times his run for the home straight. Tom Marquand will have to be on his game, but this horse can win if he gets some luck.
(3) Royal Pride won last time over this trip and goes up 3kg coming into this race. He’s going to find it tough with that weight but is drawn well for Hugh Bowman so has to be in considerations.
(9) Sunny Delight also won last time and is drawn well for this event. Holds an exceptional record over this trip and will definitely be giving a solid account of himself here.
(2) Copartner Era went well last time. Is drawn wider here which may make things harder for him but he’s another that can benefit from a strong tempo early.
(4) Spicy Grill Each-Way
$8.50/$2.80 (0.5 Units)
Race 8
(3) Adios is the deserving favourite here in exceptional form including a 3rd placing from a wide alley last time. Gets gate 4 this time with Silvestre De Sousa taking the ride so expect him to get a better run and be mighty hard to beat.
(7) Exponential is the most obvious danger with Zac Purton aboard as he possesses strong early tow and can find the lead and prove hard to run down. If Adios can remain 1-2 pairs behind this horse, I’d be confident he’ll catch him, but racing is never that simple, so this horse is a definite chance.
(4) Red Lion is another who went well last time from a wide gate and is drawn far better this time around. Jamie Kah is aboard and can be in the finish aboard this horse with the right run.
(3) Adios Win
$3.20 (2 Units)
