Thoroughbred Racing returns to Geelong on Wednesday with an eight-race program scheduled on what is officially the last day of Spring.
A 2400m maiden gets us underway in race one and one of my better bets comes up in that race.
Gallopers will race on a Good track with the last of the day scheduled for 5:05pm.
Brendan Bunworth brings you his preview and Geelong racing tips for Wednesday. Check out his best bets of the card below!
Geelong Racing Tips: Wednesday, November 30th
Race 1
(6) Highland Hill for the Griffiths & de Kock stable has drawn well in five so should take up a nice position as they take to the winning post the first time around for Blake Shinn. He made up good ground late at Moe when third last start and probably did get too far back on that occasion for Teo Nugent. The rise in distance looks as though it will suit the Highland Reel x Orcym gelding, and I expect him again to be one of the strongest late.
(5) Time Lucas for the Wilde team is the main danger and is another with a big finish on him. He rises 1000m in distance from his Casterton effort two runs ago, but the team are able to set their horses over staying trips.
(4) The Khan gets his chance on his home track for Jamie Edwards and is probably over the odds.
(3) Reddivo is also trained on the track.
(6) Highland Hill WIN
$2.50 (3 Units)
Race 4
(1) Choqant is first after a spell but has had two recent jumpouts in readiness for this. On debut he was second at Cranbourne before running a very good second when starting a $2.20 favourite at Pakenham (Synthetic). Ethan Brown had him up running second for the entire race and it would look like he would salute with 50m to go but just went down by a head.
(7) Best Life for the Dabernig Team is another who is resuming and should run better this prep.
(8) Botched can be slow out but has placed twice before on Good tracks.
(10) Apertivo has to be kept safe for the Hayes Team after two fair efforts. Had some trial runs before that so should be fully fit now.
(1) Choqant WIN
$2.50 (3 Units)
Race 5
*SCRATCHED* (1) Riverplate has only won one from 10 starts but has placed four times on Good tracks. He is up to 60kg now but did carry 59.5kg two weeks ago when breaking his maiden at Ladbrokes Park (Sandown). He led on that occasion and Shinn may try and do the same tactics again in this race. The Busuttin & Young team raced him four times in Listed races last campaign, so they do have a high opinion of him. This is easier.
(1) Ultimate Kiss gets the blinkers on and did run on well for third last start at Ladbrokes Park (Sandown).
(4) Exzello was well beaten as favourite last time (6th) and improvement is expected for the Mike Moroney trained galloper.
(6) Max Mercury is fresh, and his fifth last start was okay behind Holster and Kissinger. Kissinger has since won.
Race 6
(2) Fixated might lead this race and he may be overs in this race. Craig Williams is on after Johnny Allen led on the gelding who got tired after leading last time. From barrier two WIllow has won on the horse before and should settle in the top three here and Fixated does have nice form on Good tracks having won four times from 17 starts.
(3) Rosalia is down in class after getting tired late at Moonee Valley last start. Christine Puls may have to settle handy again from barrier 11.
(6) Tramontana has run three seconds from six attempts on Good tracks. He is first up, and he has placed twice first up before.
(5) Why Not Suzy doesn't seem to like Good tracks but did win well at Murtoa two starts back after leading. There looks to be a bit of pace on here, so Matthew Chadwick won't want to get caught out wide from barrier nine.
(2) Fixated Each-way
$17.00/$4.50 (1 Unit)
