Geelong will host a nine-race program on Wednesday and with many holidaying in the region, there might be a decent crowd on course. The first race is 12:40pm (AEDT) and track conditions are currently rated Soft at the time of typing, but it is raining at present so that might change. My best four plays of the day are below!
Geelong Racing Tips: Wednesday, December 27th 2023
Race 1: DMB Contracting Maiden Plate - 12:40pm (AEDT)
(1) Bling’s Dream has drawn well in barrier 4 and should get the run of the race if he can begin a bit better than he has been. In saying that he has placed in 5 of his 12 starts and is probably the fittest horse in the race. The distance shouldn’t worry him, either should be a potential wet track. Jake Noonan sticks with him after a close 4th at Cranbourne.
(3) Henry Robin steps up in distance but he looks like he should be able to run it. At Kyneton on December 14 he ran 2nd on the Soft and that might be the grade of the track here again.
(10) Pinotage plugged away to the line for 4th at Moe last start and she made up late ground there so the trip might be okay. A dry track may suit her better at this stage.
(1) Bling’s Dream
$2.40 (3 Units)
Race 4: Canadian Club Classic Maiden Plate - 2:25pm (AEDT)
(5) Some Sheila should be in the mix again on a suitable Soft track and after running on well for 4th at Lakeside last time, she looks a big chance in an easier race here. She usually settles midfield but from barrier 3, I expect she might settle a little closer to the speed in this one.
(6) Ala Moana is on debut after winning a Geelong jumpout on December 20. She is trained at the track and has had multiple jumpouts in readiness for her first time at the races.
(11) Sinepia has drawn wide in 10 but did run well last start when she boxed on well for 2nd at this track. May use petrol to get over early so each-way might be the play if keen to bet.
(5) Some Sheila
$3.10 (2 Units)
Race 5: Prestige Jayco Geelong Maiden Plate - 3pm (AEDT)
(4) Military Award has drawn inside and finds a weaker race here. The Ellerten Team have put the blinkers on for this one and he sees Geelong again after placing here last time. A box seat run in around 3rd position should see him get the comfy run in transit for Billy Egan.
(3) Immediacy has had 4 jumpouts in readiness for his debut run and he has looked good in a couple of those when running 3rd. The Busuttin & Young team are in form and Daniel Moor goes on.
(8) The Panther may lead this field but won’t want to fire up first up from a spell. He is quick enough but doesn’t want to be pressured in front.
(11) Game Online will be running on for the Hayes team and will want early pace on. First try on a wet surface.
(4) Military Award WIN
$2.40 (2 Units)
Race 7: bet365-0-64 Handicap - 4:10pm (AEDT)
(3) Rocket Scientist stormed home to place at The Valley last start and with a slightly bigger home track at Geelong it just might assist his closing speed. He is fitter now and the Freedman stable will only run him on the surface if they think he can handle it. That is an unknown because he hasn’t run on the Soft before. He is lightly raced and gets another jockey change with McMonagle on.
(4) Paris Affair has drawn wide in 11 but he does get back anyway. He likes wet tracks and will be hitting the line strongly.
(9) Dancinginthedark is 1 from 1 when third up and will try and settle midfield from a wide barrier (10). Plenty of Ammo beat him by 8L last start but did win again at Caulfield on Boxing Day.
(2) Royal Fox is the likely fav and is fitter again after running 2nd behind Plenty of Ammo. He has raced 3 times over this distance with no result which is the worry.
(3) Rocket Scientist
$3.20 (2 Units)
