2023-24 English Premier League Futures Betting Tips
Title Winner
Another year, another season where Manchester City are odds-on favourites to win the EPL Premier League title. Their fans have been absolutely spoilt over the past six seasons, with 5x first-place finishes and 1x second-place finish. The Citizens looked in danger of missing out on the ultimate prize last season when they trailed Arsenal by a couple of wins during the midway point of the season, but they came home with the wettest of wet sails to ensure they became champions once more.
Manager Pep Guardiola continues to bolster his world class squad season on end and has recently signed one of the best young defenders in the world in Josko Gvardiol. With Erling Haaland leading the attack again and Kevin De Bruyne patrolling the midfield, City are deserving to be odds-on to take home another EPL title and you would be a brave/potentially silly man to bet against them.
If you’re looking for something at better odds, then I fancy Arsenal in the ‘Winner Without Man City’ market. The Gunners had a terrific 2022-23 campaign where they finished second on 84 points. Their squad is young (for the most part) and improving, and with the added confidence from their success last season, they’ll be around the mark again and could potentially push Man City for the title.

Top Goal Scorer
Like most, I predicted Erling Haaland to come in and win the Golden Boot in his first season and he certainly didn’t disappoint. The 6’4 goal-scoring machine from Norway banged in 36 goals from 35 matches in his debut Premier League season, breaking the record for most goals in a single campaign. What’s more? He’s still just 23 years old and has the drive to continue to improve his game. With Manchester City likely to be a powerhouse once again and the bulk of their attacks focussed around finding him in the box, Haaland is impossible to bet against to finish as the top goal scorer again this season.
Again, if you’re looking for more value in your futures bets, I don’t mind the odds on Mohamed Salah in the ‘Top Goal Scorer Without Haaland’ market. Salah was down on his usual elite standards last season but still finished fourth in the Golden Boot race with 19 goals. The Egyptian has 3x EPL Golden Boots to his name and will be the focal point in attack for a Liverpool side that should improve on last season’s disappointment.

Most Assists
Kevin De Bruyne is the best midfielder in the world and that’s not up for debate anymore. He’s a striker’s dream with the precision and timing he plays his passes through on either foot. The Belgian has won the Playmaker of the Season award in three of the past six seasons and that alone makes his $3.75 odds stand out as great value. As long as he stays healthy, then this award is clearly his to lose.
At long odds I think Bruno Fernandes represents some value to finish with the most assists. It’s been a bit of a circus at Manchester United in recent seasons and that’s made it difficult for stars like Fernandes to perform consistently. However, United are a more steadied ship this time around and Fernandes is likely to be back to his best. He’s finished top 10 in the most assists category in two of the past four seasons, including a second-place finish in 2020-21.

Top 4 Finish
There are no excuses for Manchester United this season. They finished third on the table in 2022-23 and are entering their second campaign under the tutelage of Erik ten Hag. The Cristiano Ronaldo distraction is no longer there, and they’ve made a couple of big splashes in the transfer market to bolster their squad. Anything less than a top 4 finish would be a disaster for the Red Devils.

Total Points Over/Under
Newcastle had an incredible 2022-23 campaign and were able to secure a spot in the Champions League for the first time in 20 years. It was a remarkable job by manager Eddie Howe to achieve such a feat, but he now faces the tough test of trying to navigate a season with much greater demand on his squad due to the abundance of additional matches. At this stage Newcastle don’t have the depth that the other top teams have, and I think their Premier League form will suffer as a result.

To Stay Up
Newly-promoted Luton Town are one of the great stories in English football – they’ve risen from the fifth tier to the top tier in less than 10 years. Their first ever season in the Premier League certainly won’t be easy and there’s sure to be a steep learning curve at the start, but they’re clearly capable of overcoming adversity and the odds. Getting better than $3 to finish the season 17th or better seems great value with all things considered.
