Wolverhampton vs Tottenham
Molineux Stadium, Saturday 11th November, 11:30pm AEDT
Spurs will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season when they travel to the Molineux to face Wolves. Tottenham’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end at the hands of Chelsea, as the nine-man Spurs were run over the top of in a 4-1 defeat. Despite going down to nine men in the 55th minute, Ange Postecoglou’s side still played an aggressive brand of football, holding a high line for the entirety of the game.
Wolverhampton were beaten by bottom placed Sheffield United last week, handing the Blades their first win of the season. Wolverhampton’s inability to convert possession into high quality looks at goal came to the fore as Wolves were unable to break down a struggling Sheffield side. Wolves have just one win from their last four games, and rank in the bottom half of the league for goals scored (11th) and goals conceded (14th). Coming up against a Tottenham side that is ranked sixth in both categories, it highlights the gap in quality between these teams at both ends of the pitch.
Tottenham still produced a great fight when they lost two players, and that challenge should hold Spurs in good stead that they will continue to play their way no matter the situation of the game. Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie’s absences will be tough for Spurs, however they have enough depth in their squad to cover their suspended players, and as long as they can keep eleven players on the pitch they won’t have any challenges against Wolves.

Liverpool vs Brentford
Anfield, Monday 13th November, 1:00am AEDT
Liverpool narrowly avoided an embarrassing defeat to Luton Town thanks to a stoppage time equaliser from Luis Diaz, however it was still crucial points dropped as the Reds missed an opportunity to move into second place on the Premier League table. Liverpool take on a red hot Brentford side who have won three games in a row, after Brentford came from behind to beat West Ham 3-2.
Liverpool recorded 26 shots to 8 and had 74% off possession, but couldn’t convert their opportunities as they only managed 6 shots on target. It was a frustrating outing for Jurgen Klopp’s side, however they should still be full of confidence given the dominance of their performance in general play. Brentford have been impressive at both ends of the pitch this season, having the eighth ranked attack and the eighth ranked defence in the league. Although it’s been impressive by the Bees to be ranked in the top ten for both stats, they’re still a level behind the star power that the Reds do possess, and it’s going to be difficult for Brentford to engage in a shootout with Liverpool.
Liverpool have won two of their last three Premier League fixtures against Brentford, and despite their struggles in front of goal last week, they’ve produced a strong showing of form to trust last week was an outlier. The Reds have scored at least two goals in eight of their eleven games this season, led by Mo Salah’s eight goals, the second most in the league. Brentford will be competitive against Liverpool, but the Reds just have too much attacking firepower for the Bees to compete with.
