EPL 2023-24: Matchday 10 Preview & Betting Tips
Crystal Palace vs Tottenham
Selhurst Park, Saturday 28th October, 6:00am AEDT
Nine games, seven wins, two draws and zero losses. It’s been a dream start under Ange Postecoglou who has Tottenham sitting at the top of the Premier League, after they completely outclassed Fulham in a 2-0 win on Matchday 9. Spurs now take on another London side in Crystal Palace, looking to extend their unbeaten streak to ten games. Crystal Palace were smashed 4-0 by Newcastle last week, with Palace having won only one of their last five games.
Tottenham’s success this season is no surprise when you break down the statistical profile of their output this season. Spurs have been the most consistent side across all three facets of the game, which has led to their unbeaten start to the season. Spurs are the second ranked defensive team in the league (8 goals conceded), fourth ranked attacking side (20 goals scored) and ranked third for possession (60.7% possession).
Tottenham have dominated Palace, winning their last three games against their London rivals. Those three wins have resulted in score lines of 3-0, 4-0 and 1-0, and with the contrasting form lines of both clubs, all signs are pointing towards another convincing win for Spurs. Tottenham have barely put a foot wrong this season, and their consistency across all parts of the pitch has proven they are the real deal. AngeBall will continue to roll on, as Tottenham keep their stellar start to the season going.

Wolverhampton vs Newcastle
Molineux Stadium, Sunday 29th October, 3:30am AEDT
Newcastle’s early season struggles are well and truly behind them, with Eddie Howe’s side winning four of their last five games to move into sixth place on the Premier League table. The Magpies will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak to six games when they travel to the Molineux to take on Wolves. Wolverhampton grinded their way to a 2-1 win over a ten man Bournemouth which sees them unbeaten in their last three games in the league.
They key differentiating factor in this clash is the difference between the two sides in their front third. Newcastle are the best attacking team in the league with 24 goals this season, and have scored 8, 2, 2 and 4 goals from their last four games. Wolves have scored just eleven goals this season, and it’s clear they don’t have the star power in attack to match with Newcastle. If the Magpies score early in this game, it’s going to be difficult for Wolverhampton to overcome.
Newcastle have won two of their last three Premier League fixtures, and haven’t lost to Wolves in the league since 2021. Newcastle’s red hot attacking form is simply too hard to go past. Newcastle rank 1st for goals, expected goals, shots on target inside the box and shot conversion rate. Although Wolverhampton have improved after a slow start to the season, Eddie Howe’s attack will overwhelm Wolves at the Molineux.

Manchester United vs Manchester City
Old Trafford, Monday 30th October, 2:30am AEDT
The defending champions ended their two game losing streak with a 2-1 win over Brighton, which saw City move back into second place. Pep Guardiola’s side now get a chance to keep their momentum rolling against their arch rivals, who they have dominated in recent seasons. Manchester United picked up another unconvincing win, requiring a screamer from Diogo Dalot in the 77th minute to overcome 20th placed Sheffield United.
Manchester City are the number ranked defensive team in the Premier League, having conceded only seven goals from their nine games this season. Manchester United have struggled to break down some of the worst teams in the league this season, and it’s difficult to see the Red Devils finding a way to produce consistent attacking threats to put Manchester City under pressure in this clash.
Manchester City have won three of their last four games against United, with their three wins coming by an aggregate score of 12-4. Including a 6-3 win last season where City completely obliterated Manchester United’s defence. Although the Red Devils have picked up back to back wins, they haven’t had a single convincing performance in the league this season. They haven’t beaten a side placed above them on the table, and haven’t won a game by more than a goal this season. They’ve been scraping past some of the worst sides in the league, and they’re about to get a serious reality check from their crosstown rivals.
