EPL 2022-23: Matchday 33 Preview & Betting Tips
West Ham vs Liverpool
London Stadium, Thursday 27th April, 4:45am AEST
West Ham and Liverpool kick off Matchday 33 at the London Stadium, with both teams coming off wins on Matchday 32. The Reds held off a defiant Nottingham Forest in a 3-2 victory that sees Jurgen Klopp’s men unbeaten in their last four games. With Tottenham struggling, fifth place isn’t unobtainable, and Liverpool will be desperate to salvage something from what has been a disappointing season.
Liverpool’s midfield have been outstanding in the last fortnight, recording 82 and 74% possession across their last two games. It hasn’t been a strength of Liverpool despite being one of the best sides in Europe over the past five seasons however Fabinho, Henderson, Jones and Thiago have been excellent allowing Liverpool to maintain control of games and give repeat opportunities for their dynamic front three. West Ham have struggled to move the ball this season, and if they can’t get a hold of the battle in the centre third, their defence is going to be under immense pressure.
Liverpool have dominated West Ham over the past six years, holding a 10-1-1 record against the Hammers in Premier League fixtures since 2017. West Ham have been much improved over the last month, however the talent that Liverpool have in the front half is going to be too much for the Hammers to contain. Liverpool have won by a weight of numbers over the last fortnight dominating the territory battle, and they’ll continue their good record against West Ham.

Manchester City vs Arsenal
Etihad Stadium, Thursday 27th April, 5:00am AEST
Here it is, the game everyone has been waiting for is finally upon us. The single most important game of the season as the league leaders Arsenal, travel to the Etihad to take on second placed Manchester City. Three consecutive draws has seen Arsenal’s firm grip on the Premier League trophy slip, with the Gunners sitting only five points ahead of the defending champions, who have two games in hand on Mikel Arteta’s men. If Arsenal are to break their 19-year Premier League title drought.
This game pits the league’s two best attacking teams with City ranked first and Arsenal ranked second, as well as two of the top four defences in the league. The Gunners defence has struggled in the recent weeks, conceding 2, 2, and 3 goals across their last three games. Arsenal’s woes at the back couldn’t have come at a worse time, coming up against a Man City outfit that has won six straight games, scoring seventeen goals across those six games.
Regardless of all the statistical factors in this clash, the biggest advantage Pep Guardiola’s side have is experience. They’ve won three of the last four league titles and have seen all the ups and downs that a Premier League can throw up, in comparison to a young Arsenal outfit that hasn’t been on the outside of the top four, let alone ever challenged for the title. It’s clear the Gunners have felt the pressure of the occasion across the past weeks, twice giving up points from 2-0, as well as failing to claim all three points against 20th placed Southampton. City have won eleven straight Premier League matches against Arsenal, and match up incredibly well against the Gunners.

Tottenham vs Manchester United
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Friday 28th April, 5:15am AEST
After back-to-back defeats to Bournemouth and Newcastle, Tottenham’s top four hopes look all but over, sitting six points behind fourth placed Manchester United, who have two games in hand on Spurs. Fortunately for Tottenham they get the opportunity to make up some ground when they face the Red Devils at home on Friday morning. United have won three consecutive games as they battle with Newcastle to secure third spot on the Premier League table.
It was an absolute disaster on the weekend for Tottenham as they conceded five goals in the opening twenty minutes, en route to a 6-1 hammering at the hands of Newcastle United. Spurs’ defence has been all at sea over the past two weeks, having conceded three goals against Bournemouth the week before. Tottenham have conceded 51 goals the season, the sixth most of any club in the Premier League, to highlight how poor they’ve been, the five teams above Tottenham in that stat occupy the bottom five positions on the Premier League table.
Manchester United have exposed Tottenham’s defence, scoring eleven goals in their last four Premier League matches against Spurs, which have all resulted in wins for United. Tottenham have won just one of their last five games, and they’re a side with next to confidence in their system, especially after Antonio Conte’s departure in March. The Red Devils are a complete contrast playing with complete belief in their system, and they will pile on the misery for a struggling Spurs outfit.

More EPL Matchday 33 Tips
Wolves vs Crystal Palace (Wednesday 4:30am AEST)
Crystal Palace couldn’t secure their fourth straight win when being held to a goalless draw against Everton on the weekend, but they have now strung together back-to-back clean sheets. In fact, their defence has been one of the stingiest in the competition over the last 10 games and as long as that continues, they’re great value to pick up three points on Wednesday.

Aston Villa vs Fulham (Wednesday 4:45am AEST)
Aston Villa have a chance to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games on Wednesday morning. They’ve been in incredible form over the past couple of months and should be too good for a Fulham side that has struggled against top half teams this season.

Leeds vs Leicester (Wednesday 5am AEST)
Two struggling sides will meet in an important fixture on Wednesday morning, with Leeds and Leicester both desperately needing points. Unfortunately for Leeds, they’ve been playing so bad recently that it’s nearly impossible to back them at this point. So, by default, Leicester are the better play in this one.

Nottingham vs Brighton (Thursday 4:30am AEST)
Nottingham are in horrible form and now take on the Gulls who have been one of the most consistent performing teams this season. In saying that, the Gulls haven’t been winning by large margins, so I’ll just be backing them in the win market on this occasion.
Brighton to Win ($1.53 at Neds)
Chelsea vs Brentford (Thursday 4:45am AEST)
Two teams who can’t buy a win at the moment will face off in this fixture, with Chelsea hosting Brentford at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are five games without a win and Brentford are six games without one. Both teams are struggling to find the back of the net and that should make for a low-scoring affair, which leads me to take ‘No’ in the Both Teams to Score market.
Both Teams to Score - No ($1.90 at Betr)
Everton vs Newcastle (Friday 4:45am AEST)
Newcastle bounced back from their loss against Villa with a sizzling 6-1 win over Tottenham on the Weekend and now look top four bound. It’s been an incredible season for the Toon to date and they should be too good for Everton here.
Newcastle to Win ($1.72 at Betr)
Southampton vs Bournemouth (Friday 4:45am AEST)
Southampton’s defence has conceded 13 goals in their last five games and they’ve only picked up two points during that stretch as a result, although their upcoming opponents in Bournemouth are coming off a game where they conceded four against West Ham. Clearly both defences are struggling and that makes the Over 2.5 Goals market the value here.
