EPL 2022-23: Matchday 30 Preview & Betting Tips
Tottenham vs Brighton
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday 9th April, 12:00am AEST
It’s a battle of fifth versus sixth as Tottenham host Brighton in a massive clash on Sunday morning. Tottenham missed a golden opportunity to jump into the top four with draws against Southampton and Everton in their last two games, which sees Spurs three points behind fourth placed Manchester United, despite having played an extra game. Brighton are four points behind Tottenham, but have two games in hand, with this game providing a massive opportunity for the Seagulls to make a push to take fifth spot.
Brighton come into this fixture on the back of a five-game unbeaten run, with their last match a 2-0 win over Bournemouth. Both clubs have been prolific in attack this season, ranking 3rd & 4th for goals this season with Spurs scoring 53 and Brighton scoring 51. This clash will see goals aplenty with the firepower on display, so the ability for either defence to hold up, will likely be the deciding factor.
Tottenham haven drawn their last two games, while Brighton have played in two draws from their last five games. Despite finding no issues scoring this season, Brighton do give up plenty of goals, which has resulted in plenty of high scoring draws. Both clubs have been shaky in defence this season, and with plenty at stake in this clash, this match has the makings of a draw.
Fulham vs West Ham
Craven Cottage, Sunday 9th April, 12:00am AEST
West Ham’s fight for survival hits a crucial point on Sunday morning when they take on London rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage. The Hammers were annihilated 5-1 by Newcastle during the week, leaving them level on points with eighteenth placed Bournemouth, despite being in fifteenth. Fulham have hit a rough patch in what has been a positive season for the club back in the top tier of English football. Fulham have lost three consecutive games; however, they still sit in the top half of the table.
Both clubs have been solid defensively, ranking 10th and 11th respectively, however the front third has been where West Ham have struggled this season. Over the past few seasons the Hammers have been a dynamic side under David Moyes ranking seventh for goals scored in both ‘21/’22 and ‘20/’21 seasons. However, that attacking flair has completely disappeared from West Ham, having scored just 26 goals this season (ranked 15th). Fulham aren’t exactly an attacking juggernaut; however, they’ve still scored thirteen more goals then the Hammers this season.
It’s going to be an almighty task for West Ham to bounce back after their embarrassing performance during the week, and there’s a mountain of pressure on the Hammers in the relegation battle. Fulham have found a way to bounce back from form slumps on multiple occasions this season, and provide great value against an inconsistent West Ham side.

Liverpool vs Arsenal
Anfield, Monday 10th April, 1:30am AEST
It’s been a brutal week for Liverpool, with their top four hopes all but dashed after a 4-1 defeat against Manchester City on Matchday 29, followed up by a scoreless draw midweek against Chelsea. The Reds now sit ten points behind fourth placed Manchester United, and life doesn’t get any easier for Jurgen Klopp’s side when they take on league leaders Arsenal. The Gunners maintained their eight-point lead at the top of the table, after a 4-1 win over Leeds last week.
Arsenal have been in scintillating form, winning seven consecutive Premier League games. The winning streak has been built on the back of their attacking game. The Gunners have scored 23 goals across those seven games, scoring three or more goals in six of those seven games. In contrast, Liverpool are winless in their last three games, and have scored just one goal. Arsenal’s form in front of centre looms as the biggest factor coming into this fixture.
The Gunners had a thrilling 3-2 victory over Liverpool when these two sides met earlier this season, and their ability to consistently create and finish opportunities gives them the edge over a Liverpool side that is struggling to find the back of the net at the moment. Arsenal have risen in big games time and time again this season, and Mikel Arteta’s side will keep their breathing space at the top of the table.

Manchester United vs Everton (Saturday 9:30pm AEST)
Neither of these teams are in great form but it should still be an entertaining watch. Everton have managed to score in each of their last four league matches and face a United defence that has been shaky at times. With that in mind, I see the Both Teams to Score market as the best value in this fixture.

Aston Villa vs Nottingham (Sunday 12am AEST)
Aston Villa are absolutely flying right now and are arguably the form team of the competition. They’ve secured 16 points from a possible 18 over their last six league matches, and that sort of form should be too good for a Forest team that hasn’t won in eight starts.
Aston Villa to Win ($1.60 at Neds)
Brentford vs Newcastle (Sunday 12am AEST)
Since their stupendous unbeaten run in the Premier League was snapped a few weeks ago, the Bees have struggled to regain their form. They have only one win from their last five matches and must now take on the Magpies who have won four on the spin. It’s tough to see the Bees getting anything out of this one.
Newcastle to Win ($2.05 at Neds)
Leicester vs Bournemouth (Sunday 12am AEST)
Leicester have had a nightmare season on all fronts and their recent form hasn’t been good either. They’ve secured one points from their last seven league matches and face a Cherries outfit that has won three during the same span. Neither team has been defending well all season and that should lead to plenty of goals here.

Wolves vs Chelsea (Sunday 12am AEST)
The revolving door in the manager’s office at Chelsea continued as they reappointed Frank Lampard last week. The Blues will start favourite in his first game back in charge and rightly so when you consider the form of their opponents. The Wolves have won only once from their last seven league matches and I can’t see them getting anything out of this.
Chelsea to Win ($1.90 at Neds)
Southampton vs Manchester City (Sunday 2:30am AEST)
Manchester City have strung four wins together and will head to St. Mary’s full of confidence. The Saints have only won twice from their last 10 and will have their backs against the wall in this matchup. I expect City to dominate the game from start to finish and record a comfortable win on the road.
Man City/Man City – HT/FT ($1.80 at Betr)
Leeds vs Crystal Palace (Sunday 11pm AEST)
Leeds have found some of their better form at an important part of the season. They’ve put together a 3-1-2 record over their last six games and that sort of form is far better than what we’ve seen from Palace in recent weeks. The home side should be able to negotiate another win.
