Last week’s festival of football saw plenty of chaotic results that has spiced up the top four race. Tottenham’s two losses has them clinging onto their spot in the top four, while two wins last week for Newcastle has seen them jump into fourth. It’s another big Matchday of Premier League action, and we’ve got you covered with our tips!
EPL 2022-23: Matchday 14 Preview & Betting Tips
Brighton vs Chelsea
American Express Community Stadium, Sunday 30th October, 1:00am AEDT
Only three weeks after leaving Brighton, new Chelsea manager Graham Potter faces his former side in a crucial clash on Sunday morning. After drawing both of their games last week against Brentford and Manchester United, Chelsea have fallen to fifth place on the Premier League table and are in desperate need of a win. After starting 4-1-0, Brighton have won only one of their last seven games, with their last outing a 3-1 defeat against Manchester City.
Brighton have struggled since Graham Potter’s departure and are 0-1-2 against the top five sides in the Premier League. With their issues against the better sides in the league, Brighton will be looking to play a conservative style to keep themselves in this game for as long as possible. Chelsea struggled to gain any control against Manchester United in their last game, and United’s high-pressure system provides a template on how to disrupt Chelsea’s midfield.
Four of the last five Premier League games between Brighton and Chelsea have ended in a draw. With Brighton and Chelsea both ranking inside the top ten defences in the Premier League, this game is going to be a low scoring affair. Chelsea‘s last two games have ended in draws, and with both sides struggling to find consistency at the attacking end of the pitch, the draw provides excellent value in this fixture.
Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest
Emirates Stadium, Monday 31st October, 1:00am AEDT
It’s top of the league taking on bottom of the league when Nottingham Forest head to the Emirates to take on Arsenal. Forest will be riding high after a huge upset win over Liverpool last week, led by a stunning performance from keeper Dean Henderson. The Gunners were held to their first draw of the season by Southampton last week, bringing Manchester City within two points of the league leaders.
Arsenal are the second best attacking team in the Premier League this season with 25 goals, and are the equal second best defensive team having conceded just 11 goals. The Gunners are getting the job done at both ends of the pitch, and it’s leading to incredible consistency from Arsenal this season. For comparison, Nottingham Forest rank bottom three in both of those stats, highlighting how tough of a task this will be for them.
After failing to take all three points against Southampton, Arsenal will be looking to bounce back and keep their spot at the top of the Premier League table. Forest are 1-3-6 in their last ten Premier League games, and that form simply doesn’t stack up against a side with the quality that Arsenal have. Forest have failed to score in three of their last five games, and the Gunners will be far too good against the worst team in the Premier League.

Manchester United vs West Ham
Old Trafford, Monday 31st October, 3:15am AEDT
Matchday 14 concludes at Old Trafford, as Manchester United host West Ham. The Red Devils are coming off a positive week, taking four out of a possible six points against top four sides in Tottenham and Chelsea. West Ham were dominant in 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Tuesday morning, with the Hammers picking up three wins from their last five games.
West Ham are unbeaten in four of their last five games, with a 3-1-1 record across that time span. After scoring just three goals through their first seven games this season, the Hammers attacking game has picked up vastly. West Ham have scored eight goals through their last five games and are beginning to show glimpses of the dynamic side that they’ve been forward of centre in the last two seasons.
Manchester United have won their last four Premier League fixtures against West Ham, and both teams have scored in five of the last eight meetings between the two sides. In seven of the Red Devils eleven games this season both teams have scored. United’s defence has looked better across their last three games but given what they’ve shown over the past few seasons it’s difficult to see them being consistent over a solid period of time.

Leicester vs Manchester City (Saturday 10:30pm AEDT)
After conceding 22 goals and securing only one point in their first seven league matches, the Foxes have bounced back with four clean sheets and three wins from their past five. However, their momentum is in serious threat of being halted with the champions coming to town on Saturday night. Both sides are in form and will be flowing with confidence, which should make for an entertaining and attacking affair.

Bournemouth vs Tottenham (Sunday 1am AEDT)
Bournemouth were holding down the fort well for a period there when they went six league matches without a loss, although that form has disappeared in recent weeks as they enter Matchday 14 on a two-game losing streak. The Cherries have failed to score in seven of their last 11 games and that sort of form simply won’t cut it against a team like the Spurs who possess an abundance of firepower.
Tottenham H2H ($1.67 at TAB)
Brentford vs Wolves (Sunday 1am AEDT)
The Bees have been a tough team to get a read on this season and their 4-0 loss against the struggling Villa last start was case in point. Luckily, they welcome a Wolves team to the King Power who are arguably in the worst form in the competition. The Wolves have lost five of their last six games and have found the back of the net a league-worst five times this season. It’s hard to see the visitors winning this match on current form.
Brentford H2H ($2.15 at Betr)
Crystal Palace vs Southampton (Sunday 1am AEDT)
Games involving Crystal Palace have been fun to watch this season, particularly of late with four of their last five league fixtures seeing 3+ goals be scored. Their opponents, Southampton, aren’t afraid to get bodies forward either, which should make for a good contest. Over 2.5 goals has hit in each of the last three meetings between these teams and I expect that trend to continue.
Over 2.5 Goals ($2.05 at Betr)
Newcastle vs Aston Villa (Sunday 1am AEDT)
Newcastle’s blistering run of form continued last weekend when they upset the Spurs on their own deck. That 2-1 win was their fourth victory from their last five games, and they’ve only conceded three goals during that span. The Toon have lost only one game this season and will start as the deserving odds-on favourites against Villa on Sunday morning. They should prove to be too good on this occasion.

Fulham vs Everton (Sunday 3:30am AEDT)
Fulham have performed extremely well for a newly promoted side this season, and currently sit 7th on the table with 18 points from 12 games. Aleksandar Mitrovic has proven he’s more than capable at the level and currently sits second in the Golden Boot race with nine goals. Meanwhile, Everton come to town having put three past Palace last outing. The Toffees have now three of their past six games and are starting to climb the table. All things considered, this is certainly a tough one to predict, but I’m leaning to over 2.5 goals if I had to make a play.
Over 2.5 Goals ($1.85 at TAB)
Liverpool vs Leeds (Sunday 5:45am AEDT)
Liverpool were humiliated last weekend when they lost to the bottom-of-the-table Forest. They failed to get out of first gear in the loss and are now down to 8th on the table. Defence has been a serious issue for the Reds this season, as they’ve already conceded 13 goals, which is a lot more than a side of their quality should be allowing. There should be goals for both teams in the final match of the round.
