EPL Matchday 33 Betting Tips
Tottenham vs Brighton
Saturday 16th April, 9.30pm (AEST)
Tottenham made it four wins in a row with a clinical performance in a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa last weekend. After Arsenal’s defeat to Brighton, Spurs are now in control of fourth place, sitting three points ahead of the Gunners. Arsenal have a game in hand on Tottenham, however with Tottenham having a ten goal advantage on goal difference they’ve got the upper hand.
Brighton produced a defensive masterclass against Arsenal last week, losing the shot count 20-8 and the possession battle 65%-35% but still managed to pull off a 2-1 victory. Tottenham’s balance at both ends of the pitch has been key in their charge to fourth place, having the sixth best defence and the fourth best attack in the Premier League. Brighton have relied heavily on their defence, scoring the third fewest amount of goals in the Premier League this season with 28 goals.
Tottenham have won six of their last seven games with an aggregate score of 25-5 a dominant run that has seen them playing some incredible football in both attack and defence. Spurs have enjoyed playing Brighton since their promotion to the Premier League in 2017, having a 6-1-2 record in Premier League fixtures against Brighton. Tottenham won’t slip up like their North London rivals and will continue their winning streak.
Southampton vs Arsenal
Sunday 17th April, 12.00am (AEST)
Arsenal have somehow let fourth place slip after losses to Crystal Palace and Brighton in the last fortnight. The Gunners head to St Mary’s Stadium in desperate need of a victory to keep touch with Tottenham in the battle for fourth position. Southampton are winless from their last five matches and are coming off a 6-0 hiding at the hands of Chelsea.
Southampton’s defence has struggled all season long, conceding 52 goals - the sixth most in the Premier League this season. It’s an area of the game Arsenal could expose, with the Gunners ranking as the seventh most prolific attack in the Premier League. Southampton have conceded fifteen goals across their last five games and it’s difficult to see them turning it around against an Arenal side that possess some serious attacking threats.
Southampton have struggled against the Gunners in recent seasons, going 1-3-7 in their last eleven Premier League meetings with Arsenal. Arsenal will come out firing after a poor fortnight, and they won’t have any troubles against a side that they’ve dominated over the past few seasons.
West Ham vs Burnley
Sunday 17th April, 11.15pm (AEST)
West Ham will be riding high after an incredible Europa League win over Lyon during the week, and they take on the eighteenth placed Burnley at home on Sunday night. Burnley have lost five of their last six games and sit four points away from safety with eight games remaining.
West Ham have been solid at the London Stadium this season with a 9-3-4 record, while Burnley have struggled badly in away games this season. Burnley have only one victory from fifteen games away from home this season, with a 1-6-8 record. The discrepancy in scoring power between these two sides will be the difference in this clash. West Ham have scored 51 goals this season, the fifth most in the Premier League this season. Burnley have scored only 25 goals this season, the second fewest in the Premier League.
This should be a straight forward fixture for West Ham who have far too much talent for Burnley to contain. The Hammers are unbeaten in their last three games against Burnley, and the clarets just don’t have the attacking firepower to go with a dynamic West Ham side.
