Manchester City vs Manchester United
Monday 7th March, 3.30am (AEDT)
The second Manchester Derby of the ‘21/’22 season sees Manchester City looking to keep second placed Liverpool at bay, and Manchester United clinging onto fourth spot. The league leaders got back on the winner list with a controversial 1-0 win over Everton last week, while the Red Devils dropped points in a 0-0 draw against Watford at home.
Although United are undefeated in their last eight games, draws against Watford, Southampton and Burnley in their last five games has hampered their top four aspirations. City’s balance in defence and attack has been outstanding this season, having the number one ranked defence conceding only 17 goals and number two ranked attack having scored 64 goals. United have struggled to break down some poor teams across the last month, and they're going to have a nightmare trying to penetrate City's back four.
The Red Devils have struggled badly against the best teams in the Premier League this season. In three games against the top three sides United has a 1-8 aggregate score, picking up one of a possible nine points. It’s difficult to see United overcoming their crosstown rivals given the way they’ve played of late, and their defence could get opened up by the league leaders. City will do the league double over Manchester United this season.
