EPL Matchday 20 Betting Tips
Leicester City vs Liverpool
Wednesday 29th December, 7.00am (AEDT)
The Foxes and the Reds will square off in the game of the mid-week round on Wednesday morning as Liverpool look to make it two wins in under a week against Leicester. The two teams squared off in the EFL on the 23rd of December, where Liverpool claimed a win in extra time after the game finished 3-3.
The Reds sit in 2nd place on the EPL table with a 12-5-1 record, having not lost a game in any competition in their last 10. In that period, they have racked up wins over solid sides in the likes of Arsenal, AC Milan and Everton, but they still sit six points behind table leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool need to keep winning to keep the pressure on Manchester City here, so I can’t see them dropping points against a Foxes team that will be pretty exhausted from a busy Christmas schedule. Wednesday will mark the third game in under a week for Leicester and in the previous two, they have already had 10 goals scored on them.
Chelsea vs Brighton
Thursday 30th December, 6.30am (AEDT)
The Blues have lost just one of their last 18 games in all competitions but still sit a full six points behind Manchester City at the top of the table. They are coming off a solid 3-1 win on the road at Aston Villa and will be looking for another win here to put some pressure on the two sides above them.
Brighton have been stout in defence this season, allowing just 17 goals in their 17 games, which has helped them secure the most draws of any team in the EPL. They sit in 9th place on the EPL table with a 5-8-7 record but have a game or two in hand over a bunch of teams above them on the table.
The Blues look the goods here. They have played Brighton 10 times in all competitions in their history, losing only once all the way back in their first meeting in 2012. Since then, they are 6-3-0 with a combined goal aggregate of 16-4. Their defence has been fantastic this season, allowing just 13 goals in 19 games. Back them to win and keep a clean sheet here.
Brentford vs Manchester City
Friday 31st December, 7.15am (AEDT)
Manchester City are the team to beat in the Premier League at the moment. They have a 15-2-2 record and sit atop the table, having won their last nine EPL games in a row. Their offence has been ridiculous this season in the Premier League. In the last three games alone, they have scored a whopping 17 goals and area coming off a 6-3 win against Leicester on the weekend.
Brentford have been impressive in their first season in the Premier League, maintaining a 5-5-7 record so far and sitting in 13th place. There’s no doubt that these two teams are on completely different levels though, and this should be an extremely tough test for the newly promoted Bees.
These two teams have never played one another in any competition, so it is set to be an historic day for Brentford as they host one of the biggest clubs in the world at their 17,000 seat stadium for the first time. I think the Manchester City train keeps rolling here, back a big win in a high scoring game.
