EPL Matchday 19 Betting Tips
Liverpool vs Leeds United
Sunday December 26th, 11:30pm (AEDT), Anfield
Four games without a win, three consecutive losses and 1-11 aggregate score across their last two games, the nightmare season continues for Leeds. A 4-1 loss at home against Arsenal last weekend was the latest blow for a Leeds outfit that is so depleted, fifteen year old Archie Gray made the squad in the game against the Gunners. The job only gets tougher for Leeds as they head to Anfield, a venue they haven’t won at since 2001.
Liverpool dropped points for the first time since early November in their 2-2 draw against Tottenham last week, with Andy Robertson to miss this clash after picking up a red card against Spurs. Despite the minor slip up last week, the Reds have been in outstanding form, with an 8-2-1 record in their last ten Premier League matches. Leeds have been missing an abundance of players including Kalvin Phillips, Patrick Bamford, Liam Cooper and Rodrigo, and their defence has been in absolute tatters, conceding 13 goals in their last three games. Leeds have conceded the second most goals in the Premier League this season (36), and will be coming up against the league’s most potent attack.
The Reds have scored a league high 50 goals this season, and possess the top two goal scorers in the Premier League with Mo Salah (15) and Diogo Jota (10). Liverpool also have the top two assist getters in the Premier League in Salah (9) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (8). The Reds have a 6-2-0 record in their last eight Premier League fixtures against Leeds, and are 6-3-0 at Anfield this season. With Leeds’ undermanned squad at the moment, this game could turn ugly quickly.
Tottenham vs Crystal Palace
Monday December 27th, 2:00am (AEDT), Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Spurs host fellow London side Crystal Palace on Monday morning, as they continue their surge towards the top four. Tottenham will be full of confidence after a gritty 2-2 draw against Liverpool, and sit just six points behind fourth placed Arsenal, with three games in hand on the Gunners. Tottenham are in good touch at the moment with three wins from their last four games, and a current unbeaten run of five games.
It’s been a tougher time for Crystal Palace, who have a 1-2-3 record in their last five matches. Antonio Conte’s arrival has helped rejuvenate Tottenham, who haven’t lost in the Premier League since Conte took over. The home ground factor is set to play a big role in this clash, Crystal Palace have struggled badly on the road this season with a 1-3-4 record away from home this season.
On the other hand, Spurs are 6-1-2 at home and have an outstanding recent record against Palace. Tottenham have a 10-2-1 record in their last thirteen Premier League meetings against Crystal Palace. Tottenham are playing some outstanding football at the moment, and Crystal Palace won’t pose too many threats for Spurs.
Tottenham vs Crystal Palace
Tuesday December 28th, 7:00am (AEDT), St James' Park
After having both their fixtures from last week postponed, Manchester United will be eager to gain some momentum in their pursuit for a top four position. The Red Devils have won three games in a row, and sit just five points behind fourth placed Arsenal, with two games in hand, thanks to Covid outbreaks postponing their games against Brentford and Brighton. A 4-0 thumping at the hands of Manchester City continued Newcastle’s miserable season, which sees them sitting in nineteenth place with just one win from seventeen games this season.
Only goal difference is keeping them off last place, and relegation is a serious threat which would be a catastrophic disaster given the recent investment in the club. Manchester United have loved playing against Newcastle across the last two years, with results of 4-1, 3-1, 4-1 and 4-1 in their last four Premier League games against Newcastle. Newcastle have conceded eleven goals in their past three games, and have conceded 41 goals this season - the most in the Premier League. They’ve also conceded 79 goals this calendar year, again the most of any club.
Newcastle defenders will still be having nightmares about Bruno Fernandes, who has three goals and an assist in his three games against Newcastle. The Red Devils have dominated Newcastle, winning six of their last seven games against the Magpies, with an aggregate score of 20-7 in those seven games. Newcastle have been deplorable this season, and it’s hard to see that turning around any time soon. With the attacking weapons that Man United possess, this will be a routine victory for the Red Devils.
